XANDER'S POV:
"What did you say?" I turned around with a frown etched on my face.
She gulped and looked away from me.
I strode towards the bed where she was now sitting on her knees and gripped her chin making her look at me.
"I asked you something?" I repeat.
"H-he killed Adrian and the twins in front me. B-Burned the girls and made me witness. He shot Adrian, I-I couldn't take it anymore and lost consciousness. The last thing I saw was his small body falling to the ground. I tried, okay? I tried to help him but I was weak mentally and physically. I tried f-for all three of them. It was too much. Way too much. H-he's a monster." She whispered and held my hand that was holding her chin.
My jaw gritted and I looked down to see her lips forming an unnoticeable pout and a sheer layer of tears gathered in her eyes.
I kept the information hidden because I didn't want to depress her anymore than she already was specially after hearing the unfortunate, tormenting incidents she had to go through in the past. I would have told her once all of this was over.
I sighed and sat down next to her placing her in my lap and hugging her close to my body.
"You didn't tell me. Were you ever going to?" her small voice brought me out of my thoughts.
"Of course I was. You deserved to know." I replied.
"I'm sorry." She looked up, her chin resting on my chest.
"Why do you do it, Xenia? It's not the first time I'm telling you how much your safety matters to me. Hell, do I even have to tell you this?" I ask incredulously.
"I-I was scared." she sniffled.
"My own woman is scared of me." I scoffed.
"No Xan, you would have lost your shit." she sighed tiredly.
"You bet your sweet ass I would." I retorted.
"I love you." she said.
"This ain't gonna cut shit this time." I shook my head.
"Xander please." she pleaded.
"No Xenia. You need to learn to trust me. After all we've been through, I am disappointed that you don't." I squinted my eyes at her.
"I-" she began but I silenced her by keeping my hand on her mouth.
"I know you're sorry, Xenia. It's just that the word has lost it's charm." I said and got up placing her back on the bed.
She gripped my wrist as I turned around to walk.
"Don't do this to me. Don't be mad." she begged.
I turned around and settled my cold gaze on her face.
"No, Xenia. YOU don't do this to me." I tugged my wrist away and walked out.
It had to be done. It's high time.
XENIA'S POV:
He closed the door quietly behind him and I sighed deeply.
He's right.
It should've been him, not just yesterday but every other time. I just can't find it in myself to tell him the name that haunts me till date.
I'm not scared of Michael, I'm just afraid of the history repeating itself.
The door burst open and Asher came running to me. I didn't even get the chance to react when he enveloped me in a bone crushing hug, squeezing my insides tightly.
