More Than Teammates

Chapter 1

~Lili's POV~

We were both on the wall.

"10 SECONDS REST AND GO."

I rested about 10 seconds and pushed off. He was in the lane next to me. I watched him pull ahead of me. He was so fucking fast. But then again I'm a backstroker. I got through the rest of the set, my mind wasn't there. Then all of a sudden my shoulder popped again. I stopped at the wall. My coach came over to me.

"How's it been doing?"

"Going numb here and there but other then that it's pretty good."

"Lili, you're technique is flawless today. You're probably sore from lifting."

"True."

I finished rolling out my shoulder and hopped in halfway through the next set. He kept looking over at me. He was watching me. This was torture. I wanted to talk to him but I couldn't.At the end of practice we had to take lane lines out. We were both on the same side of the reel. Our hands accidentally brushed. He looked at me and I blushed. Once the lane lines were done we walked to the bleachers to grab our bags.

"Lili how's your shoulder?"

"It's fine. I'm just really sore."

I wrapped myself in my towel. I took off my cap and put it in my bathing suit at the hip.

"That's good. Your backstroke finish was beautiful. How are you so good at them?"

"Practice. Also I need that extra speed at the finish."

"Lili you're going to make that cut. Just because you age up doesn't mean you shouldn't make championships."

"Jordan I don't think I will."

"Yes you will."

He lightly touched my arm.

"Lili, you can do anything."

"I gotta change, I'll wait for you and we can walk out together."

"Sure."

~Jordan's POV~

I quickly changed to walk out with her even though she takes forever. I ended up talking with a teammate for a bit.

"How's your girlfriend?"

"I'm not dating her."

"You should."

"She's a good friend."

"You two look like more than friends."

I walked out of the locker room. I put on my jacket and laced up my shoes. She walked out of the locker room in leggings and her jacket was already on.

"Ready to go?"

"Yeah."

"Bye Coach!"

"Bye, great practice Lili!"

"See you tomorrow morning."

I walked out with Lili.

"Lili what are your plans for the rest of break?"

"Umm I don't know. Why do you ask?"

"No I was just wondering."

"Are you going to be at practice tomorrow morning?"

"Maybe, I have Varsity practice right before. I kinda hate doing club and Varsity but I gotta make championships for both."

"Yeah you do. I believe in you."

Her mom pulled up.

"Jordan I gotta go, see you in the morning."

"See ya."

Under my breath I whispered,

"I love you."

I watched her pull away. I wanted to be with her so bad it hurt.
