"Have you heard from Kareem?" Amber, my other friend,asked. Dave,Amber,Kayla and I were seated at our usual table .This had been our usual spot ever since Dave and I entered St.Gritz high school.I was busy eating my rice, Dave was using his phone while Amber and Kayla were talking.
"How's that girlfriend of his?,What's her name again?"Kayla asked.
"Nina."
"Yup,how's she?"
"Hm, I heard he broke up with her."
"Oh Are you Serious,why?"
"Yeah,he said because she was,and I quote, 'too fat'." Kayla didn't reply .I looked up to see why she didn't reply, only to discover that not just her, but everyone on the table was looking between me and my fork that just fell out of my hand . I couldn't say anything because before I knew it ,I was choking on the food that was in my mouth and Amber quickly handed me a glass of water.
"Drink up,you should really stop eating like a pig,you rush your-"Amber said jokingly but before she could complete her sentence,my glass slipped from my hand,landing on my plate with a huge clang.Thankfully, it didn't break. but it did cause half of the whole cafeteria to look at me.
"JEEZ Ava!,Are you okay?"my friends asked, worriedly while Dave just stared at me with a knowing and worried look.
"Yeah yeah, I'm fine" I said to my friends and turned towards the rest of the cafeteria who were still staring at me."Sorry for all the commotion, I'm good, enjoy your meal,Bon appetit, au revoir, adios"I said nervously and ran out of the cafeteria.I saw Kayla and Amber try to follow me but Dave stopped them and I was glad.
"JEEZ Ava,get a hold of yourself, what's wrong with you?,we've been over this"I said to myself as I entered a little corner Dave and I discovered a few weeks ago.
"Ava are you o-".
"Ahh JEEZ ,you scared me"I was too busy in my own thoughts that I didn't notice Dave walk in. "And yes I'm good, don't worry about it" I smile,genuinely.
"I know, you're the strongest girl I know." he said and I smiled.
"Now come on, let's go meet the girls before they faint out of fear"he said grabbing my hand and pulling me up
"Venez ici,my french-span girl"he teased .
" Ha ha,very funny" I said, rolling my eyes.
"Really, you taught me more French than I'd ever learnt in French class. I mean who knew Au revoir was goodbye"
"Uhm,The whole universe?" I said in a 'duh' tone.
After hours of reassuring Amber and Kayla that I was fine,they finally left to go home.
"See you tomorrow Ave."
"Bye guys!"
While I was arranging my locker someone tapped me on my right shoulder, I turned right and didn't see anyone, only to turn left and see Dave causing me to roll my eyes.
"Haha Av,you fall for it every.Single.Time" he said, referring to the shoulder tap.
"Why are you here?"I asked,shutting my locker.
"Well one being; I'm your ride and two;I'm here for that ice cream date". He said, causing me to grin.
"Let's go" we headed to the nearest ice cream store.
