"Nope" Kayla said "Am I not right Amber?"
"Yup "Amber agreed and I nudged her in her stomach "ouch Av"
"Maybe cause of the fact that we're graduating very soon"i tried to convince them and also convince myself "Hey, have any of you seen Dave?"
"I think he mentioned something about helping his grandma."
"Oh."
When the bell rang , signalling the end of school. I said my goodbyes to Kayla and Amber and went to the car park, looking for Dave's car and that's when I remembered what Amber told me. ‘Shoot! what am I going to do . I didn't know that Dave wasn't going to be in school today so I didn't prepare .I only brought my lunch money which I spent on lunch and my mum was still at work’. I needed to get home so I called the only number I could think of:The gym number which was already on my phone. It rang.i strongly hoped Mr Rude as going to be the one to pick up and not some secretary because I didn't know his real name.
"Mr Green eyes?"I said because I figured it would be rude to call him ‘Mr Rude’ when I needed a favour from him.
"Ava?"he said and sighed glad that it was him who answered.
"Yes,hi. So uhm, I'm sure you're wondering why I called . I was just wondering if you could please,maybe, if you're free , pick me from school?"i asked nervously. When he didn't reply, I continued; "You know What? I guess it is a bad idea. I mean you're probably busy and all-"
"Where's it? " he cut me off.
"I'm sorry, What?"
"Where's your school?"
"Oh wow Saint Gritz high"i gave him the full address."it's like a 15 minutes from the gym."
"Be there in 6"before I could say thank you. He cut the phone.
"Ava!, is that you?"Kayla called from behind me "You haven't gone?"
"Nah, Dave was supposed to be my ride.Why are you still here though?"i asked
"I had to stay behind for cheerleading practice .My mum can drop you, she'd be here very soon".
"Actually , I already have a ride . He should be here any moment from now."
"Wh-"Before she could complete her sentence, a Bentley pulled up right in front of me and of course, Kayla's eyes were wide and so were the eyes of the rest of the students outside.
"That's him. Byee" I said before she could speak and quickly entered the car. I told Mr Rude to drive off ,leaving a gawking Kayla behind.’i know right?, I've been there.’
"Thanks for coming to pick me up on such a short notice” i said and he just nodded.The car was silent and He just stared at the road,making it awkward and I ,being my forward self, put on the mp3 player .his eyes watched my hands for like a second before they drifted back to the road.'Let's hurt tonight' started playing and I started grinned like an idiot. ‘He must have downloaded after the day I played it in the gym that day.’I thought to myself.
"You listen to onerepublic?"I asked and he nodded.
"I'll get the lights and you lock the doors "I started singing. out of tune, if I may add.Earning me a laugh from him.
