CHAPTER 15

Adam's P.O.V

      If I told you I wasn't scared, I'd be a ruthless liar. I am more than terrified. Had she caught me? Maybe she really does know my motives and she's decided to punish me. She must have used a spell on me to make me know how powerful she was and how she could finish me easily.

When I was with her I couldn't even think straight. Was she playing with my mind too? What's happening to me? My force should be able to resist this, shouldn't it? How do I get myself out of this situation? Should I tell her everything? No, no I can't do that. I would be putting my life and Dad's life at risk. There must be some other way.

  I got home. Mom was in the living room, staring blankly at the ceiling.

"Is he awake now?" I needed to talk to Dad about this girl. I can't do this alone anymore.

"Yes"

I started to go to Dad's room.

"Adam, there's something I want you to know about... "

"Adam! Is that you?" Dad's voice came from his room.

"Can it wait? I really have to speak with him"

Mom heaved a deep sigh and went back to sit. There was something troubling her.

"Are you alright mom?"

"I'm fine. It's nothing"

"I'll get back soon"

I went to Dad's room. I needed to tell him what was going on.

"How's it going? Did you get her?"

"Get her? She's using her powers on me already!"

Dad paused and stared at me for long.

"How did she? Did she make you feel hot inside?"

"Yes, she made me burn the first time I saw her and now, she's making me erm... warm. How did you know?"

I felt a bit embarrassed. I didn't talk about the part that I was hypnotized by her scent.

Dad laughed like I just finished cracking a hearty joke.

"What's so funny? I don't want to get into trouble!"

"You fool! She's making you fall in love with her. She would lie that you are her soulmate after you get to love her. That's what Chosens do" Dad was serious. Oh my!

"Wait.. What? Soulmate?"

The thought of that made my head whirl. Are we in the movies? Soulmate? Do that still exist?

"Yes, she has the power to do that. All you can do is focus on what you want to get and do not daydream about her. Focus on getting me healed, Adam"

I blushed on the daydreaming part he said. I had really daydreamed about her.

This is really getting out of hand. What if she makes me fall in love with her? Why me? I lowered my voice as if I didn't want someone to eavesdrop. 

"Dad, do you think she knows what my plans are? And she's trying to punish me?"

"Coward! Chosens have powers but they don't see the future. She must have liked you and decided to make you feel the same way"

"That won't happen. I'd get her to you before things get complicated" I don't even know how I'd do that.

"Good"

I walked out of his room. Mom was still on my mind.
When I got to the living room, she was still on the same position, staring at the ceiling.

"Hey, mom"

She looked at me and smiled. That smile that doesn't get past your lips. That fake smile that doesn't reflect in your eyes. The toothless smile.

"Mom, you feel ill?"

"No... I wanted to talk to you about the chosen girl" She whispered. I had to read her lips.

"Oh about her. I'll do all I can to get her here. Dad would find cure soon. Just relax"

"No, Adam. Don't get... "

"Mary!"

Dad's voice echoed.

"Mom, I promise it will be fine. I will get her soon, okay?"

She shook her head, then opened her mouth to say something. Dad's voice came again.

"You should go check on him"

"Yeah"

Oh! I really need to get Amelia here and fast. Mom looked like the one with the disease. I cant wait to get her to cure Dad.
