Amelia's P.O.V

I swallowed the lump forming in my throat as I curled myself up into a ball. The breathing continued, slow and shallow. I held my nose to stop my own breathing, making sure I wasn't hearing my own breaths, I still heard it. I closed my eyes to listen carefully. It was real. Something is definitely under my bed.

I have heard a lot of stories of the Bogeyman that sneaks under children's bed to scare them. When I was 8, my classmate Clint always told us that the Bogeyman would try to touch his leg from under the bed while singing a scary song. I dreaded those stories and always prayed never to encounter a Bogeyman.

Even if it isn't the same scenario, I can't stop to think a Bogeyman is under my bed. I took two deep breaths and made up my mind that I would run at the count of three to the other side of the room to turn on the lights.

   One... Two... Th...
A grunt cut my thinking. I looked around frantically, utterly scared. Without thinking, I sprang up from the bed across the room and flicked the light switch on.

Nothing. Everything is the same. From my scattered clothes to the shoes I kept under my bed. Nothing, no Bogeyman. I heaved a sigh. Something was definitely having fun with me.

I left my lights on and climbed the bed. My thoughts roamed to school, then to Adam, back to school, then to Adam again and finally I slept with Adam on my mind.

Adam's P.O.V

Sleep wouldn't come, the thought of Mom wouldn't go so I sneaked on Amelia. No, don't get me wrong. I just wanted to see what was so important in her, why she's the only one that can cure Dad.

I sneaked up to her window. She was already asleep. Something about how peaceful she slept caught my attention. Even if the window was a barrier, I could see her face. Thanks to the streaks of moonlight illuminating her face. I enjoyed watching her sleep.

I forgot all of my worries and problems for some minutes. She is my solution. The solution to everything called worry and problem in my life.

She woke up all of a sudden and started scanning the room. Then she started acting crazy. Was this her Chosen self?

Before I knew it, she was already out of the bed, running across the room to turn on the lights in her room. Wait, had she sensed my presence? Oh no. She must have.  I held on to the ladder. I mustn't move, she would notice my shadow. Thanks to the fact that I wore black.

She went back to the bed and I waited till she fell asleep before getting down the ladder.
Humph.. One hell of a night...
