Amelia's P.O.V

The wind swept my hair and the leaves hanging from tree branches brushed me as I gingerly walked through the woods to meet my soulmate. Guess I'm comfortable with that word already.

I stopped on my tracks when I saw him. The way the breeze blew his curly hair, his muscular arm as he raised his hand to sweep his hair out of his face and the thumping of his heart all made my whole body scream.

I'm seeing him in a completely different way. Or it's part of being Chosen? You see your soulmate like he's the most beautiful thing?

"Hm!" I cleared my throat to gain his attention and covered the distance between us.

"Hey"

"Hi"
He's quiet today, why? I sat on Rockie beside him and fixed my gaze on a stone on the floor, it's smooth and shiny like someone placed it there for me to see.

"So why did you summon me, my Lord?" I asked jokingly. The atmosphere was too stiff.

He chuckled and cleared his throat but said nothing.

"So... What?"

"My mom's gone"

I held back laughter and smiled instead.

"And you miss her so much you pulled me here instead of pulling her back home?"

"She's dead" He spat the words like venom.

Something in me pulled out. It was like all my sorrows came back at once. I swallowed back the lump forming in my throat.

"I'm sorry" I felt for him. I can't imagine losing my mom. It must be really hard for him.

"She hung herself"

All the blood in my face drained. Do people still hang themselves? Was she going through problems?

"I'm... really sorry" Words were hard to say. I don't know how to comfort someone.

"She could have just waited till I brought the cure"

Why is he telling me all this? Guess I just have to sit and listen.

"Is she sick?"

"My dad is! She shouldn't have ended her life, Amelia!"

He's in pain. I can feel it.

"I'm so sorry"  I reach for his hand but he snatched it away before I touch him.

"Don't! It's all your damn fault! If only I had found you on time, mom would still be alive! Don't act like you are sorry because you are not! You are just like every other Chosen!"

Oh my! He just hit the goddamn spot! He knows I'm Chosen. I couldn't help but stare at him with wide eyes.

"What? What was that supposed to mean?"

The back of my neck burned and the pit of my stomach was on fire. The warmth I felt was replaced with fire.

"I... I... I have to go now" He scrambled to his feet.

"Hold on. How on earth do you know I'm Chosen? What else do you know? How is your mom's death my fault? Why should you have found me on time? I need answers, Adam!"

"And I owe you none!"
At that he walked away, leaving me with unanswered questions.
What was that for? Was he accusing me of his mother's death? I barely even know him!
