Adam's P.O.V
Drip... Drip. The sound of water trickling.
"Mom?" The house was eerily quiet.
The smell of rusted iron filled my nostrils.
"Dad?"
Mom never left the house. Where then is she?
The dripping noise was from the kitchen. I turned towards the kitchen to see where the sound was coming from.
"Oh no...No, no, no"
I blinked twice and still saw the same image!
"It can't be" I whispered to myself.
A rope was suspending Mom from the ceiling. Her feet dangled freely midair, her hands clutched the knife in her stomach and her blood trickled past her hands to the floor.
"Mom!" I ran to the spot where she was. She was lifeless, dangling like a pendulum bulb.
I should have known something was wrong, I should have known she was depressed, I should have been there for her, I should have talked and listened to her. Too many regrets, Adams. Too many of them.
I untied the rope and Mom's body fell with a thud, creating a swell in my chest. She's gone. Lifeless.
I knelt beside her body. Her eyes had rolled over and on her now cold and white lips was a painful smile. My tears dropped on her forehead, making me realize I was crying. I sniffed and wiped my running nose with the back of my hand.
She didn't even leave me a note. She left nothing to tell me why she had to take her own life. I hate myself for this. If I had found Amelia on time and taken her to cure Dad, this won't have happened. We would have gone back to living as a happy family. Mom would still definitely be alive.
I took in ragged breaths as I hoisted her into her bedroom. I laid her on the bed and covered her. I had to be strong. I took in her lifeless face before I covered her completely and closed the door. I had to tell Dad.
After cleaning the kitchen and making sure it wasn't smelling like rust, I went up to check on Dad. He must have woken up. He had to know Mom's no more.
He laid flat on his back, staring at the ceiling with a blank expression.
"Dad" My voice came out shaky but I tried to look brave.
"Adam. Where is Mary? She hasn't brought me lunch. I'm starving!" Dad bellowed as soon as he turned to look at me.
I couldn't contain my heart. It was like I was carrying huge bricks on it.
"Mom's...gone" I whispered. My braveness flying into thin air.
"What do you mean she's gone? She ran away? She got tired... " Dad began ranting.
"NO! She's dead! She killed herself. You were so full of yourself, you never know if something is wrong with her! She never cared about her personal issues. It's just you all the time! All this is your damn fault!"
I poured out my anger and pain. Even if I shouldn't be saying harsh words to him, I can't help but feel he is one of the reasons mom killed herself. She must have been tired of bearing all the responsibilities.
Dad just kept staring at me wide eyed. I returned his gaze with pure anger until I saw the glimmer of tears in his eyes.
"I'm sorry. I... I never knew she was going through a lot. Just leave me to die. I caused her death. There's no point finding me cure" Tears were streaming down his eyes now, soaking the side of his pillow.
I feel so bad, standing here and yelling at a sick man, accusing him of a death he knows nothing about.
"No... You will live. I'll get you cure. You are all I have left"
