Amelia's P.O.V

I wore the little peach dress that has been hanging in my wardrobe for ages to school. When mom bought it for me, I thought I won't wear it. But for reasons you should know, I decided to put it on today. It's past time I show them the 'changed' me as Granny puts it. I won't be the stupid Amelia everyone knows anymore.

I got to school a little late. The time when girls hung around their lockers to give the last minutes gossip, when boys stand in the hallway and stare at the pretty and famous girls, when boyfriends give their girls last kisses before classes starts. That was the time I got to school. Stupid Amelia would have cursed herself for getting to school late. She would have stood at a corner till everyone had gone to class before she went to her locker. She wouldn't be late in the first.

But now, somehow, for reasons best known to me and you, she was happy. She was excited everyone would see her. She wanted them to.
Yes, the new me wanted to show everyone.

I walked to the hall like every normal kid would do. I ignored the pounding in my chest. I got my books from my locker and walked the long way to my class. I had always been angry at the position of my locker. It was at the far end of the hall. But today, it didn't bother me.

As I walked down, the hall became quiet. Only hushed voices spoke. I thought I had done something completely stupid, something that had shocked them until I heard someone say: 'Omg! It's Amelia. She's different!"
I smiled knowingly to myself as I made it to my first class without bumping my head or something. This would be a long day.

In Biology class, later that day, Miss Palmer did a question and answer session. By that time, I was used to the stares and comments.

Even Jake, the tennis lord acknowledged me. Jake was literally the most handsome in the school. Plus he was the best in tennis. He got every girl he wanted. He had bumped into me earlier. Old Jake would have smirked at me. But he just kept staring. Till now.
I turned back to see him still gaping at me.

"Amelia, would you answer that?"

Miss Palmer's voice pierced my thoughts. I whipped my head away from Jake and turned to her. I haven't even heard the question.

"Ehmm.. er.. "

I stood up nervously, raking my brain for a way to dismiss her question. The whole class turned to face me. Oh, have mercy. I can't embarrass myself. No, I can't. Some were smiling sweetly at me and some especially Mia was smirking devilishly at me. I hated that girl. With passion.

"Amelia?"

No, don't ask me. Direct it to someone else. Someone like Mia who thinks she knows all. I pleaded in my thoughts.

"You don't have to answer that. Sit. I should probably call someone else. Mia?"

Miss Palmer smiled at me and turned to Mia.

Oh my! Did I do that? Or was it a coincidence?
I watched with wide eyes as Mia answered the question.
She sat down and smiled mischievously. Then she mouthed the word 'Stupid'.

Fall off your chair, Mia. I commanded with my thought. I wished she would fall off but I also wanted to see if I made Miss Palmer change her mind or it was just a mere coincidence.

Mia raised an eyebrow at me and I realized I was glaring wide eye at her. I peeled my eyes off her. Nothing happened. It was just a coincidence.
I turned back to face Miss Palmer when I heard the crash.

Mia fell flat on her butt! I did it! It couldn't be double coincidence...
