CHAPTER 26

Amelia's P.O.V

    "A cursed man who wants to help a friend" The icy creepy voice said.
A cursed man? Why now? Why do strange things keep happening to me. First, Adam blamed me for his mother's death and now I'm getting visitations from cursed men. Wait... The man from Lakeshore! I shifted further away from my closet to the foot of the bed.

"You are the man from Lakeshore, aren't you?" I asked, my eyes shooting daggers at my closet.

"Lakeshore? What are you saying?" The icy voice sounded confused.

"Thought it was you"
I touched my shoulder and shivered remembering how the Invisible man touched me.
Wait, why didn't I tell Granny or Mom? Oh, they wouldn't believe me. Just like they didn't when I told them of Miss Palmer.

"That wasn't me. There are many of us who aren't fond of humans, Amelia. I am the good guy. I only want to help"

"How do you know my name?" Of all he said, that was the only part I picked. Guess that's important to me.

"I know a lot of things. I know you are Chosen and you found your soulmate"

"What? How did you? Have you been stalking me?"
I guess being Chosen is no longer a family secret.
What do you do when an invisible person stalks you? I will ask Google once I'm alone? Alone? How do I even know if I'm alone?

"No. Just a mere look at you, I know all about you" Mr Invisible said. He knows all about me? Wonderful! Just perfect! My inner voice chimed sarcastically.

"No, you don't" I countered. Daring him to let out what he knows about me.

"Adam. That's your soulmate's name"
I shivered unconsciously. How can he know that?

"I don't mean to scare you. I just want you to know that you can trust me. I'm here to help"

"Trust you? Help me with what?"
What would an invisible man help me with when he clearly knows I have powers?

"Your soulmate. Do not trust him" The voice spoke.

"What? Why? What does Adam have to do with you disturbing my sleep? Who are you to tell me who to trust?" I could feel the anger slipping out of me. Amelia, control. I told myself. I can't lash out at something I don't see. How do i get rid of this thing?

"He's the reason I'm here. You have to listen to me, please. For your protection" The voice begged.

"I think I need to be protected from creatures like you. Leave me be, please. You know your way out" I have had enough for one night. Why wouldn't I trust my soulmate?

"Okay, I'll say this fast"
Oh, he's still here. I groaned and raised my eyebrow.

"Adam's father has some kind of unknown sickness. A disease, I don't know. He is in search of the cure for his father. Now, the only way to cure him is through a Chosen. A young Chosen girl who just found her powers. Through you."

I listened to all he said and got no points. Adam could have just told me and I'd help even if I have no idea how.

"I could have helped if he told me. Why didn't he?" I wondered aloud.

"No, you wouldn't. It takes your death to heal him. It's an exchange, Amelia. Your life to renew his"
His words slapped my senses.

"What? Why would I even believe you?"
If what Mr Invisible is saying is true, then I'm in danger.

"Think, Amelia. Adam never met you by coincidence. He pulled you. Why? Why would he pull a random girl?"

This got me. I really didn't meet Adam by coincidence. He had pulled me. For days. That's how desperate he was.

"Adam wouldn't want me dead, would he?" I asked no one in particular. He can't kill me, can he?

"You are so naive. Ask him about his father. I am not the enemy. Your soulmate is"

As much as I try not to believe this unknown voice, I couldn't stop connecting the ropes. Adam pulled me to him, why? He really didn't pull a random girl who appeared to be Chosen and his soulmate. He really would let his soulmate die?
How has my life turned this way? Stupid Amelia had been better. There weren't invisible men waking me up to tell me my soulmate is planning my death.

Granny and mom never warned me about these kind of events. In fact, they said once I find my soulmate, I would be whole and everything would be just fine. This isn't being whole and it's so far from being fine.

I don't know Adam too well but I know he wouldn't kill me, would he? Jeez, I don't even know!

"Goodnight, Amelia. Go back to bed. Do not tell anyone about this for now. For your protection"
I totally forgot Mr Invisible was still in my room.

"Wait... What if it's true, how do I stop him? Do I just stop seeing him?"
I waited but no reply came. Good, so good. He left already. When I need him, he leaves.

"Go back to bed, huh?!" I shouted to no one, letting out my frustrated anger.

I hope it isn't true.
