"You should come with me to meet my friends after work. You've been in New York a month and no offence but you don't have any friends besides everyone at work," Monica said as she plated up some food.
You moved to New York a month ago and joined Monica's team at the restaurant. You were her sous-chef but she quickly became a good friend to you. She felt quite bad for you since you hadn't made any friends since you'd moved here but that was because you worked every day except Sunday but on Sundays you volunteered at the animal shelter so you barely had anytime to go out and meet people. Monica had continuously tried to persuade you to come and meet her friends but you always politely declined because you didn't want to become a tag along. "Thanks Mon but you guys are such a close group, I don't want to just follow you all 'round like a lost puppy," you replied.
"Katie please just come with me to meet them, they'll all love you," Monica pleaded.
"I don't know Monica, I'll think about it," you responded.
"Katie, you are coming with me whether you like it or not, you need to make some more friends besides me," she said with a serious tone.
You rolled your eyes which made her chuckle. You were grateful that Monica was trying to include you in her group of friends but you couldn't help but feel anxious. You were fine meeting girls but guys were a completely different story for you. You always went quite shy and awkward around guys which is one of the reasons as to why you never jumped at the chance to meet her group. When the end of your shift rolled around, you contemplated hurrying out of the restaurant before Monica could drag you out but you knew she was right about the fact that you needed to make some friends. "Katie, you ready to go?" Monica asked from the other side of the kitchen.
You nodded and slipped on your leather jacket before following her out of the restaurant. You got into Monica's car and sped off to her apartment, her telling you about how great her friends were and how much you were going to like them. Minutes later, you climbed out of the car and Monica took you to the coffee house where the group was waiting for her. "Mon are you sure they won't mind me intruding?" You asked as you stopped outside the door to the coffee house
"Of course they won't, trust me they'll love you," she grinned.
You awkwardly walked into the coffee shop behind Monica who was greeted cheerfully by her friends. "Guys, this is Katie, she moved here a month ago and works at the restaurant with me. I thought it would be nice for her to meet some new people so all of you better be nice," Monica said, linking her arm through yours in a comforting manner.
Everyone smiled brightly at you and said hello. You said hello back and waved shyly as Monica told you everyone's names. One member of the group in particular caught your eye. Joey captured your attention immediately with his charming smile, glistening eyes, and handsome features. Unbeknown to yourself, you had also caught Joey's attention who was taken back by the beautiful girl who had strolled in beside Monica. Monica sat down on her husband's lap leaving the only available seat between them and Joey. You squished in the middle, feeling your cheeks heat up from the close contact between you and Joey. He placed his arm on the couch behind you which made you feel slightly awkward but in reality you didn't mind being this close to him. You were both instantly attracted to one another but Joey knew that he better not try to sleep with you since you could do with staying friends with the group. "So Katie, how come you moved to New York?" Joey asked.
"Well I'm originally from Queens but my family moved to California when I was about ten but I missed New York so I thought I'd come back," you answered.
"I'm from Queens too," Joey grinned.
"I kind of lost my accent when I moved to California but hopefully I can pick it up, I always loved a queens accent," you said, winking at Joey.
You were shocked by your sudden burst of confidence but Joey just smirked at your words. You spent the rest of the evening taking to Joey which made Monica eye you both suspiciously. Joey made you laugh continuously, mainly because he loved hearing your adorable laugh. "I kept thinking I knew you from somewhere, I can't believe you're the guy from Days Of Our Lives," you gasped," you're a brilliant actor."
"Thank you, that means a lot, not many people think I am," Joey answered honestly.
"Well they must be blind because you're incredible," you grinned," Sorry, I don't mean to sound like a crazy fan."
"Don't worry about it, it's cute," he smirked.
"How about we all head back up to my apartment and have some proper drinks so we can all get to know Katie better," Monica suggested.
"Sounds good to me," you grinned.
You all finished off your coffees and walked back to Monica's apartment with Monica making sure you spoke to people other than Joey. You engaged in a conversation with Rachel but you kept on stealing glances at Joey and he did exactly the same. When you made it back to the apartment, you all grabbed a beer and sat around the coffee table. Joey made sure he sat next to you which made you smile. The group could see the instant attraction that had formed between the two of you and whilst they were pleased that you had slotted into the group nicely, they were worried that you would end up sleeping with Joey and they would never see you again. After a few beers, you decided you needed some fresh air so you headed out onto the balcony and stared out at the busy streets of New York. "It's a great view isn't it?" Joey said making you jump," Sorry didn't mean to scare you."
"It's okay, I was in my own little world then," you giggled," New York is so pretty at night, I lived near the beach in California but you that view doesn't even compare to this."
"Really? Surely a beach is prettier than a city," Joey answered, leaning on the balcony wall and taking a sip of his beer.
"Nothing will ever beat New York City at night time, it's beautiful," you grinned.
"Not as beautiful as you," Joey said, sending a wink your way.
"Aren't you such a smooth talker," you chuckled.
"I try," he responded, a smirk resting on his face.
You turned to face him, a soft smile residing on your face. He did the same but brought himself closer to you. "It's weird, ever since you walked through the doors of the coffee house, I can't get you out of my head," Joey confessed.
"I don't think I've ever been attracted to someone this quickly before, there must be something special about you Tribbiani," you responded, letting a small laugh escape your lips.
"Katie, can I kiss you?" Joey asked.
You were taken back by his question, not expecting anything to happen between the two of you, especially only a few hours after you'd first met. You took a deep breath and nodded. He placed a hand on your hip and placed the other gently on your cheek before softly pressing his lips to yours. You slipped your arms around his neck as the two of you engaged in a gentle her passionate kiss. Joey pulled away after a few moments and rested his forehead against yours. He pecked your lips a couple of times before you pulled away from him completely. "Joey, Monica told me about your reputation with girls, I don't want to be just some girl you sleep with and then bin off when you're done with me," you said.
"I promise, that's not my intention with you at all," Joey answered as he tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear," I want to take you out on a date Katie, I really want to get to know you."
"I'd like that Joey," you grinned.
"It's getting late, how about I walk you home," Joey suggested.
You nodded and then the two of you climbed through the window back into the apartment. "Thanks for introducing me to your friends Mon, I've really enjoyed myself," you said pulling her into a hug.
"It seems that one of them has caught your eye above all of them," she chuckled.
"He's nice, but I'm not rushing into anything, there was just some weird instant attraction that I don't think I could have ignored," you answered.
You bid goodnight to everyone but leaving the apartment with Joey. When you got outside, he instantly intertwined your fingers, giving you a feeling of safety and comfort. You headed through the crowded streets of New York in a blissful silence, occasionally stealing glances at each other. When you reached your apartment building, you were quite sad since you didn't want to leave Joey. "I've really enjoyed spending time with you tonight Katie, I'll get your number from Monica and we'll set up a date, I mean if that's okay with you," Joey said, leaning against the wall next to the door.
"Of course that's okay with me, I'd love to go out with you Joey," you grinned.
You leant forward and placed a lingering kiss on Joey's kiss, whispering a 'goodnight' as you pulled away. "Is that all I get for walking you home? A kiss on the cheek?"he smirked.
You rolled your eyes playfully and pressed your lips to his. Before you could pull away, Joey pulled your body closer to his, deepening the kiss. When you pulled away, a blush had risen on your cheeks and a smile had placed itself on your face. "Goodnight Joey," you said as you opened the door to your apartment building.
"Goodnight beautiful," he grinned before walking away.
When you got inside your apartment, you leant against your door in complete shock about the events of the evening. You couldn't believe how quickly you fell for the charming man that was Joey Tribbiani but you were excited to see where things went. You had never believed in love at first sight until tonight, and neither had Joey.
