- Ross Geller & Y/N -
Synopsis: After being with Y/N since he was 18 years old and married to her for 4 years, Ross starts to realise he's in love someone else's.
It was a normal Saturday for you. You woke up bright and early to make breakfast for yourself and your three year old son Liam. You did a bit of cleaning whilst Liam sat and watched the kids channel, laughing away at whatever show was on. You got him dressed once you'd finished cleaning and packed a picnic for your usual trip to the park. You had invited his Auntie Monica to join the two of you at the park and she gladly accepted since she always wanted to spend time with her Nephew. Your husband Ross used to come to the park with the two of you but for the past few weeks he has claimed to be 'too busy'.
You had to started to feel distant from your husband at no fault of your own. He seemed to be working late more often, hanging out with Joey and Chandler more than he used to, and he was spending time with Liam on his own rather than with you. When he came him from work, he didn't kiss you like he used to. He would only give you a quick peck on the cheek and then disappear. In bed he wouldn't hold you like he used to. He'd turn over and keep his back to you. The two of you hadn't had sex in weeks. You had tried to initiate it a few times but he always told you he was too tired. It was becoming a lot for you to deal with. You felt like your husband was slipping away from you and you couldn't do anything about it.
Monica met yourself and Liam at the park. You set up a blanket on the grass and dug into the picnic you had prepared. Liam loved spending time with Monica and he was always perfectly behaved whenever she was around. He was a good kid but he was very hyperactive, meaning he could be cheeky when he wanted to be. He babbled away to Monica whilst shoving little sandwiches in his mouth. It made you smile to see how much of a happy child he was. You just wished that Ross was here to see his sister and child get along so well.
"Mummy, can I go and play now?" Liam asked, looking up at you with his big brow eyes.
"Of course sweetheart, let us just pack up the picnic and we'll move over to the play area okay," you said, ruffling his fluffy brown hair.
You packed up the remains of the picnic, dropping it all into the basket and then Monica rolled up the blanket, placing it under her arm. Yourself and Monica moved to a bench by the side of the play area whilst Liam dashed off to play on the slide.
"So how come Ross couldn't come today?" Monica asked.
"He said he had some work to do," you answered," all he seems to do these days is work."
"He's a professor. How much work could he possibly have that means he can't spend time with his son?" Monica said shaking her head.
"I don't know. He's been acting so weird over the past few weeks. It's like he's avoiding me," you said.
"Don't be silly, I'm sure he isn't avoiding you. Work must really be stressing him out if he's being distant," Monica responded.
Secretly, Monica thought it was weird that he'd been distancing himself from you. She's noticed him acting a bit off from time to time but she didn't realise it had been going on for a while. She had picked up on how much time he spent at hers without you and how every time she asked where you were, he'd always say you were the one who was busy.
"He's not as affectionate with me anymore. I mean we haven't had sex in weeks," you admitted.
"Come on Y/N, I don't want to know about my brothers sex life," Monica chuckled.
"Sorry! But I don't know what to do Mon. It's like he's slipping away," you said, feeling yourself getting a bit teary eyed.
Monica noticed and wrapped an arm around you, giving you a gentle side hug.
"Try not to think about it. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about," she said.
"I just miss him Monica," you admitted.
Before Monica could respond, Liam was calling her over to come and push him on the swings. You watched the two of them with a smile on your face, but you couldn't help but wish Ross was here too. After half an hour of pushing a giggling Liam on the swings, Monica came back over to sit with you.
"Good God, that kid has a lot of energy," she chuckled.
"He's an energetic kid. Could play on the park for hours if we'd let him," you said, letting out a small laugh.
"Do you fancy coming over when we're done here? You can both stay for tea tonight if you'd like. Just feel like we all haven't seen you that much recently," Monica asked.
"We'd love to, thank you Monica," you grinned, grateful that Monica was eager to spend time with her nephew.
