- Ross Geller & Y/N -
Synopsis: Ross and Y/N have been divorced for over a year but if it wasn't for their son, they wouldn't of realised that it was a huge mistake.
Y/S/N -> Your sons name.
*Flashback*
You glared at your husband of five years who was currently yelling at you for spending barely any time with him and your son. "All you do is get up, got to work, work late, come home and go straight to bed," Ross shouted, his face going red from anger.
"That is not true, I do spend time with you when I come home, I work late so that we have enough money to give our son a good life," you snapped.
"What... the son that you neglect for your job?" Ross huffed crossing his arms across his chest.
"Why are you being like this Ross, I do not neglect our son," you spat, feeling quite offended by his words.
"It's not just about our son, relationships need work Y/N and you don't seem to be bothered about having a strong marriage anymore, the whole thing is just crumbling," Ross said.
"What are you trying to say Ross?"
You asked, confused as to what he was getting at.
"I think we need to get a divorce," Ross mumbled.
You looked at him in pure shock. You couldn't believe that he had just said he thought the two of you should get a divorce. Tears began to slowly escape your eye and fall down your cheeks. "You don't mean that," you whispered wiping away the tears.
"I'm sorry Y/N, I think it's for the best, we aren't connecting the way a married couple should," Ross explained, sadness lacing his voice.
"What about Y/S/N? He's only 3, how are we supposed to explain this to him?" You asked.
"We'll figure it out," he muttered before wandering off into the kitchen.
The next day you moved out and stayed with your parents until you could find a place of your own. A few weeks later you sat at on the sofa staring at the divorce papers on the coffee table. "I'm sorry that it's come down to this sweetheart, the longer you just stare at them, the longer this process with be," your mum said sitting down next to you.
"I just hate that my son has to grow up in a broken home," you said picking up the pen that was next to the papers.
You slowly began to sign your name on the paper, stray tears falling from your face onto the papers. "There, it's done."
*end of flashback*
It's been a year since you and Ross got divorced. You didn't really keep in contact with the group since Ross was Monica's brother. You sometimes saw Rachel and Phoebe but not as often as you wish you could. Ross basically got the group in the divorce and it really upset you since you were so close to all of them. You were currently on your way to drop Y/S/N off at Ross' which was something that you hated doing. Your son was sat in the back of the car staring out of the window, pointing at random things that passed by. When you reached Ross' building you hurried up the stairs with you son, wanting to get it over with as quick as possible. You knocked on Ross' door and to your surprise it was Chandler who opened the door. "Y/N, hey, it's been so long since I've seen you," he grinned pulling you into a quick hug, aware that your son was stood by your legs.
"Hey Chandler, I'm just dropping off Y/S/N, is Ross here?" You asked.
"Yeah he's just in the bathroom, come in and say hi to everyone," Chandler said pulling you inside the apartment with your son following behind.
Everyone smiled widely when they saw you walk in. Monica ran over and have you a big hug since you hadn't really seen her since the divorce. "I've missed you so much Y/N," she squealed.
"I've missed you too Mon," you replied.
Her attention quickly diverted to your son who was playing with his toys that had been left on Ross' carpet. The whole group got up and have you a quick hug and you hated that you felt so out of place in a group that you once belonged in. Ross hurried into the room just as you finished giving Joey a hug. "Y/N hey, sorry I was in the bathroom," he said giving you an awkward smile.
"No worries, I'll be off now, I'll pick him up after school on Monday, it was nice seeing everyone," you said heading for the door.
"Wait Y/N, can I talk to you for a sec?" Ross asked.
You nodded and followed him through to his bedroom. He closed the door even though he was aware that the group would find a way to listen. "What's going on, do you need to change the day you have Y/S/N?" You questioned.
Ross didn't answer but instead opened up the top draw of his bed side table and pulled out a piece of paper. He handed in to you and sat down on the bed. "This is something our son drew in school the other day," Ross stated.
You opened up the paper and frowned at what you saw. On the paper we're three stick people that were drawn very far apart. The smaller stick person had a sad face and it broke your heart to realise that your son was trying to show that he was unhappy about you and Ross being apart. "I can't believe he drew this," you whispered as a tear fell onto the paper.
"I was an idiot Y/N," Ross said pulling you sit down next to him.
"What do you mean?" You asked.
"I made I mistake divorcing you, you are the love of my life Y/N, I can't live the rest of my life without you," Ross said looking you dead in the eyes.
You were completely shocked by what Ross had said and had no idea how to respond. Of course you still loved him but you had no idea that he regretted divorcing you. "I don't know what to say Ross, I really don't," you mumbled staring down at his hands.
His finger lifted your chin up and you stared into his eyes. "Marry me?" He asked.
"What?" You asked completely taken back by what he asked.
"Marry me? I want to be with you for the rest of my life. I want us to be a proper family again," he repeated.
You were once again speechless. You couldn't believe that he had just asked you to marry him. "Ross, I've had the worst year of my life. You divorced me over something so stupid and I pretty much lost my friends because of it. I just don't get it Ross. Why now? Why ask me to marry you after a year of us being apart?" You questioned, tears rolling down your face.
"Baby I know and I'm sorry that I hurt you, it killed me to know you were hurting because of me but I now know it was the worst decision I've ever made," Ross explained grabbing onto your hands.
You stood up from where you were sat on the bed and began pacing. "I can't believe this Ross. You think that after the pain you put me through I'll just say yes to your proposal with no worries at all?" You said throwing your arms in the air in frustration.
The truth was, Ross had hoped you'd say yes and jump into his waiting arms but you couldn't get over the pain he had caused you.
"Y/N, please give me one more chance, I'm so madly in love with you and that's never changed," Ross pleaded.
You had no idea what to do. On one hand you wanted to marry Ross again and become a family but on the other hand you couldn't get over the fact that he divorced you, left you without friends, and left you broken hearted. "Oh for gods sake Y/N just say you'll marry him," Monica shouted.
"Monica be quiet," Rachel snapped.
You giggled at how nosey your friends were and Ross couldn't help but smile at the cute little laugh that left your lips. "So what do you say Y/N, will you marry me, again?" He asked getting down on one knee, taking your hands in his.
"Yes," you whispered," of course I will you idiot."
He stood up and you flung yourself into his arms. You pressed your lips to his and he quickly deepened the kiss. "She said yes!" Ross yelled happily.
He quickly put his lips back against yours and pushed you back on the bed. You didn't realise how much you missed the feeling of his touch until he softly ran his hand down your side, resting on your hip. "Before you guys go any further, may I remind you that you have a son who's sat in the living room," Monica piped up.
You sighed but smiled at the thought of being a proper family again. Ross reached over to his bed side table and pulled out the ring you had thrown at him when he told you he wanted a divorce. He placed it on your ring finger and pulled you into a quick kiss. "I'll love you forever Y/N, I'm never going to leave you again," Ross mumbled before kissing your temple.
The both of you headed out to the living room and Ross quickly picked up your son. "Guess what bud, you and your mummy are gonna be moving back in with daddy," He grinned.
Your sons face lit up and he smiled brightly at his father. "Yay!" He cheered.
This morning when you woke up you didn't expect to end up back with the man who left you but you couldn't be happier.
