"Last night was just wonderful, I woke up with the biggest smile on my face," you grinned.
"Me too, it was like one of those things that you thinks never going to happen, and then it does and its everything you want it to be," Joey rambled.
You pressed your lips to his, wrapping your arms around his neck as his hands fell to your hips. The kiss was once again short and sweet and when you pulled away, you pulled Joey into a hug and you held each other tightly. "It was just the perfect way to say goodbye," you whispered.
What you weren't aware of was that your words shattered Joey's heart into a million pieces and made him realise that you were still going to London. He now believed that the door to your relationship was now closed, for good.

Later on in the day, Joey headed down to Central Perk where he found Ross and Phoebe. His two friends instantly realised things didn't go the way Joey wanted them to judging by the sad look on Joey's face. Joey sat down with his friends and explained what had just happened. "And then she said it was the perfect way to say goodbye," Joey said, his tone filled with sadness.
"Oh my god, what did you say?" Ross asked, hoping there would be a better ending to this story.
"Nothing. What do you say to that?" Joey asked, feeling extremely defeated.
"Joey, you have to tell Y/N how you feel," Phoebe said.
"No way," Joey replied.
"Joey Y/N doesn't even know that you want to get back together. If she did she might feel differently. She might not even go," Phoebe insisted.
Joey thought about what Phoebe said, not knowing if it was a good idea or not. He knew that he wanted to be with Y/N but he didn't know if she wanted to be with him and he didn't want to risk having a fight with her over it and parting on negative terms. "You know what, I think I might tell her how I feel".

That night, everyone was preparing for not only Y/N's departure to London but also for Monica and Chandler bringing home the twins. Whilst Phoebe and Ross were discussing Ross' 'Welcome Home' banner, Joey walked into the apartment with a solemn look on his face. "Hey, have you spoken to Y/N?" Phoebe asked.
"No and I'm not going to," Joey answered, knowing that his friends wouldn't be happy with his decision.
"Why not?" Ross asked.
"Because she's just going to shoot me down guys and I don't want to go through that," Joey admitted.
"Joey you and Y/N have something special. I mean the two of you slept together last night," Phoebe said, trying to convince her friend that he should tell the woman he loves how he feels.
"Yeah and she still wants to go. It's pretty clear where she is," Joey yelled," Besides even if I was going to tell her, I don't have to tell her now. I'll be seeing her again. We have time."
"No you don't. She's going to London. She is going to meet somebody. Do you know how many hot guys there are in London?" Phoebe responded.
Before Joey had a chance to reply, Mike walked in and distracted everyone from the conversation. Shortly after you burst through the door, taking everyone by surprise. "You guys the car service is here. I can't believe they aren't home yet. I have to go and catch my stupid plane but I want to see the baby," you whined.
"Monica just called from the cab and said they should be here any minute," Ross said.
After Monica and Chandler arrived home with the two babies, which was a shock to you all, and you all made a fuss of them, you realised it was finally time for you to go. Nobody was ready for you to leave, and deep down part of you really wanted to stay. "Guys I have to go, or I'll miss my plane," you said.
"I'm just so glad you got to see the babies," Monica said, pulling you into a hug.
"I'm just sorry I wont be around to see the two of you attempt to handle this," you joked, making everyone laugh," alright I can't say goodbye to you all again. I love you all."
A chorus of 'I love you' echoed around the room. The sad smiles resting on everyone's faces broke your heart but you knew that you had to leave. "Joey come here," you said pulling his to one side.
You placed your hands behind his neck and said "I just want you to know that last night... I'll never forget it."
"Neither will I," Joey whispered.
You pulled him into a tight hug and never wanted to let go. You desperately wanted him to tell you that he loved you and that he couldn't live without you. You wanted him to beg you to stay but he didn't. He let you go and he let you walk out of the door without another word. "So you just let her go?" Phoebe said, sadness lacing her words.
"Yeah," Joey  mumbled.
"Well maybe that's for the best. You've just got to think about last night the way she does. Maybe sleeping together was the perfect way to say goodbye," Ross said, placing a comforting hand on his friends shoulder.
"But she'll never know how he feels," Phoebe whined.
"Maybe that's okay. Maybe it is better this way. Now you can move on. You can finally get over her," Ross added.
"Yeah that's true," Joey mumbled," Except I don't want to get over her. I want to be with her."
"Really?" Ross asked excitedly.
"Yeah, I'm going to go after her," Joey announced.
"Yeah you are!" Ross cheered," But wait, what do you think she's going to say?"
"I don't know but even if she shoots me down I wont spend the rest of my life wondering what would have happened," Joey answered.
"C'mon my cabs downstairs, I'll drive you," Phoebe said, ushering Joey out of the door.
Joey and Phoebe rushed to the airport, both of them desperate to get to the airport because your flight took off. Joey was beyond nervous. He had no idea what he would say to you but he knew he had to try and convince you to stay. After discovering that they had gone to the wrong airport, Joey had lost all hope of getting you back and he was ready go back home and give up. However, Phoebe wasn't ready to give up so easily. She knew that the two of you were meant to be together and she wasn't willing to let Joey give up. She sped towards the right airport but Joey knew they werent going to get there in time. "The airport is like an hour away. We arent going to make it," Joey huffed.
"She has her cell. You can call her," Phoebe suggested.
"I am not going to do this over the phone," Joey said, rolling his eyes at his friend.
"You don't have any other choice," Phoebe yelled.
Phoebe reached around for her phone and quickly dialed your number. On the plane, you were shocked to hear your phone ringing since you didnt think anyone would be ringing you right now. When you saw Phoebe's caller ID you panicked slightly thinking that something was wrong. "Hello?" you said, silently hoping that nothing was wrong.
"Y/N oh good," Phoebe said,"hang on."
Phoebe tried to pass Joey the phone but he pushd her hand away, repeating that this wasnt something that could be done over the phone. "Phoebe, is everything okay?" you asked, confused as to why she was calling you.
"Actually no, you have to get off the plane," Phoebe said, panicking to find an excuse so that you'd get off of the plane.
"What why?"
"There's something wrong with the left falange," Phoebe lied, hoping that you'd maybe believe her.
"Oh honey I'm sure that there's nothing wrong with the plane," you responded, glad that there wasn't actually anything wrong," Look I have to go, I love you and I will call you the minute i get to London."
You hung up the phone and laughed to yourself at how batty your friend was. Your ocnversation seemed to have caught the attention of the man sat next to you and he began to panic that there was something wrong with the plane and that made everyone else panic and get off the plane. Thanks to the delay caused by the 'left falange crisis', Joey and Phoebe managed to get to the aiport in time and managed to catch you before you got on the plane. "What are you guys doing here?" you asked.
Phoebe nudged Joey forward, silently telling him that its time to tell her how he feels. Joey took a deep breath and then pulled you off to the side. "Joey you're scaring me. Whats going on?"
"Okay the thing is, don't go. Please stay with me. I am so in love with you. Please don't go," Joey gushed.
"Oh my god," you mumbled.
"I know I shouldnt have waited until now to say it but I'm saying it now. I love you. Do not get on that plane," Joey said.
The man who was waiting for you to board the plane was getting impatient and kept asking if you were going to board the plane or not. Joey took your hand in his and held it to his chest. "I know you love me. I know you do," Joey whispered.
"I, I have to get on the plane," you said removing your hand from his.
"No you don't," Joey responded.
"Yes I do. They're waiting for me Joey. I can't do this right now. I'm sorry," you mumbled before walking away.
Joey felt his heart break into a thousand pieces. He couldn't believe that you had gotten back on the plane even after he had confessed his loved for you and begged you to stay. All you had wanted was for him to do that but something in you was telling you that you had to get on the plane and go to London. It broke your heart to leave Joey behind but you had to do what was best for you.

•••••••••••••

Joey miserably dragged himself into his apartment and dropped down on to the sofa. He didn't know how to deal with what had just happened. He wanted you to tell him you loved him too and come home with him but instead he came home alone whilst you got on a plane to leave for good. He pressed play on his messages and leant back in the sofa. "Joey hi." Your voice rang through the speaker, sparking Joey's interest. "I just got back on the plane and I just feel awful. That is so not how I wanted things to end with us. Its just that I wasn't expecting to see you and all of a sudden you're there and saying these things and now I'm just sitting here and thinking of all the things I should have said and I didn't. I mean I didn't even get to tell you that I love you too. Because of course I do. I love you. What am I doing? I love you. I've got to see you. I've got to get off this plane!"
Joey couldn't believe what he was hearing. He thought that you didn't want to be with him but in true fact you did. You really did want to be with him. "Oh my god," he muttered.
"Excuse me -"
"Miss please sit down!"
"I'm really sorry but I need to get off this plane, I need to tell someone that I love them," your voice begged.
"Miss I can't let you off the plane."
"Let her off the plane!" Joey yelled.
"I am afraid that you are going to have to take your seat."
"Please miss you don't understand. Is there not any way you can let me off the -"
Your voice cut out and Joey panicked not knowing if you got off the plane. "Did she get off the plane? Did she get off the plane?" he repeated as he pressed whatever button he could to see if there was another message.
"I got off the plane."
Joey turned round and was shocked to see you standing in the doorway to his apartment. He had no clue what to do because he was in such shock at the fact that you actually came back to him. Joey walked towards you, cupped your face in his hands and pressed his lips to yours. The kiss was passionate and sweet but it ended too quickly for your liking. "I do love you," you mumbled, placing your hands on Joey's neck gently.
"I love you too and I'm never letting you go again," Joey said, his voice shaking.
"Good, because this is where I want to be. No more messing around. I don't want to mess this up again," you gushed.
"Me neither. We are... we're done being stupid," Joey mumbled.
"It's you and me alright? This is it," you said.
"This is it," he repeated.
He pulled you tightly against him and pressed his lips to yours once more. You wrapped your hands around his neck and threaded your fingers through the hair on the nape of his neck. The events of last night proceeded to occur once more but instead of it being the 'perfect goodbye', it was the perfect way to say 'I love you'.

•••••••••••••••

The next morning you woke up wrapped in Joey's arms and instead of trying to sneak off like you did last time, you snuggled deeper into his chest. You felt his arms tighten around you as if he was scared to loose you. "Good morning," you heard him mumble softly.
"Morning Joey," you replied, placing a soft kiss on his cheek.
"I don't think that's a proper good morning kiss Y/N," Joey smirked.
You leant up and captured his lips within yours. Joey pulled you to straddle his lap without detaching your lips. He deepened the kiss as his hands ran up and down your back in a soothing manner. After a few blissful minutes you pulled away and sat up, still straddling his lap. You held his hands to keep your balance and he sweetly smiled up at you. " See now that was a proper morning kiss," he chuckled.
You let out a small laugh and smacked his chest. "You're too cheeky for your own good sometimes Mr Tribbiani," you giggled.
"I love you," He grinned.
"And I happen to love you too," you replied, a big smile resting on your face.
He pulled you back down towards him and into another sweet and passionate kiss. Being wrapped in his arms felt perfect to you and you knew it was the only place you wanted to be. He pulled away and tucked some loose strands of hair behind your ear before pressing a soft kiss to your temple. "Come on, I'll make you some pancakes," you said, climbing off of the bed.
"Oh my god I love you," Joey replied, picking you up bridal style and carrying you to the kitchen.
As you were making the pancakes, you felt Joey staring at you. "Why are you staring?" You asked, letting out a small giggle.
"I'm just glad you decided to stay here, with me."
