Historical Context:

Centaurs originate from Greek mythology. The whole origin of how they came into existence is quite interesting, but not necessary to mention here. Feel free to search it up.

Sex:
Due to the fact that centaurs are humanoids, they have many different classifications between genders. Obviously, they could be called female, or male, for their humanness. But they can also be referred to as mares and stallions. The offspring of these creatures are called foals.

Appearance:
The appearance of a centaur varies, but the structure is the same. The centaur is a humanoid creature, meaning that they are half human and half creature, in this case, they are half horse. Centaurs have the lower half of a horse, from the neck to the tail, it is all horse. Just like sleipnirs, the coat can vary to any colour or design. From a simple chestnut coat to a stripped zebra coat, it doesn't matter, as long as it's a horse like structure, it's a centaur. Extruding from the base of the neck is the torso, arms, neck and head of a human.

Mating:
Centaurs mate for life, having up to two foals within their life span. They believe that having more than one mate is wrong and evil is taking over whoever decides to do so, therefore keeping most centaur family's together. Centaurs also travel in herds, so when a foal is born, there is no need for sudden movement to keep predators away because it will be protected by the rest of the herd. The foal is usually only brought up by the mare, and sees the stallion only a few times for he will be protecting the herd or doing other jobs. On the odd occasion of the mare dying whilst giving birth, the stallion will bring up the foal, training them in their job, sometimes putting them in harms way.

Hunting:
Centaurs are omnivores, like humans. They eat fruit, other plants and meat. They don't believe in killing close cousins for consumption, so horses are off the menu. But because centaurs have the upper half of a human, they use weapons like swords and bows to hunt down their prey. Sometimes they travel in small groups whilst hunting, but it is ideal to hunt alone because it attracts less attention. Thought centaurs have many cousins, like the ramtaur (half sheep half human), the restrain from hunting wild sheep, or likewise animals. But if they breed those animals themselves, then they will eat what they own.

Temperament:
Centaurs don't exactly have a temperament like other creatures. Because they are more human than animal, it depends on how they like to deal with people or anything else. They have all the emotions of humans, making them open to any attitude.

Rarity:
Like mentioned before, centaurs have many cousins. Some including ramtaurs, feltaurs and other likewise creatures. Basically, any creature can be like a centaur, half human, half creature. Other than that rarity, sometimes centaurs possess magic that others do not. It is very rare to find a centaur with extra magic because they are already magical creatures. But they usually obtain forest like powers to help maintain their homes or hide themselves from danger.
