***Kelly's POV***
Shaking off the morbid thoughts I took the blanket off and hung it over the bath, quickly opened the shower taps and let the room steam up a bit before getting in.
The water felt like heaven on my cold skin. At this stage my mind was still numb about what I saw, that last howl of pain had killed any emotion in me and surprisingly the emptiness felt good. For so many years the pain I felt after Daniel marked me was horrific. I don't know if the territory line stops the pain like it did my scent or if I was just shut down from anything at this point in time. I made a mental note to ask someone about the masking of my scent. Surely someone would have mentioned it before.
There was a knock at the door and the woman I assumed was Hillary walked in with an armful of clean clothing. She smiled at me as I quickly donned a towel feeling a little embarrassed that the Alpha female was catering to a stray like she were family.
'I brought you a warm coat and some slip on shoes. I guessed you were a size 6.' I took the shoes from her and nearly dropped the towel. I flushed scarlet and quickly turned to fix it.
Flinching I waiting for a scolding but when nothing came I berated myself. Daniel isn't here you idiot.
'Are you alright?' Hillary had a look of concern on her face and I gave her a reassuring smile.
'Yes thank you.' I nodded. She took the hand that held the shoes and patted it.
'Don't worry, you'll be safe here.' I don't know what Dweight told her but this woman looked genuinely concerned.
I smiled and she turned and walked toward the door. 'When you're done, just go outside, take a left and walk straight ahead. We'll all be fixing dinner in the cafeteria.' I nodded and waited for her to leave before I got dressed. I chose a white long sleeve shirt that unfortunately had a low cut front, matched with a pair of pale blue jeans that sat very low on my hips with the white slip on shoes that Hilary chose for me. The coat was grey so it matched everything I wore.
Swiping at the steam filled mirror with a towel, I checked to see if my long blonde hair was decent. It looked a bit odd sticking out in all directions so I opened the drawer in front of me in search of a brush. A small comb, brush and mirror set lay strategically placed and I made a mental note to clean the brush and put it back exactly where I found it. After a few minutes of taming my wild mane I ran my fingers through it, curling the natural curls around my face and traced over my shoulder where a small crescent moon scar was raised from the rest of my skin. Daniel's mark.
I stared at myself and took note of the dark circles under my eyes. Yes, I was tired and hadn't slept since...well since two days ago on the flight back to London.
Sighing I looked closer; I wasn't an ugly woman. I had light green eyes, a small nose and average lips.
I don't know why I was never good enough for Daniel.
My eyes prickled with unshed tears but it wasn't enough to remove the numbness encasing my body. Quickly packing the rest of the clothes in a neat pile, I then followed Hillary's instructions to the cafeteria area.
