 ***Dweight's POV***

I could hear the laughter as I changed into my jeans and flung my shirt over my shoulder.
A clear and crisp night with fun and laughter lay ahead and I couldn’t wait to see Kelly enjoying it with my Pack. The excitement nearly had me sprinting toward the mess hall when a familiar scent caught my attention. The smile wiped off of my face and I stopped as every nerve in my body went on red alert, ready for action when a man casually strolled out of the bushes next to my house. The same bushes that Kelly killed the rogue wolf in earlier today and I almost wished it was this bastard himself.

Daniel had his hands in his pockets and he barely spared me a glance before he looked back at the blood soaked sand at his feet. The moonlight only showing enough of his features to illuminate the sneer formed on his lips.

The laughter coming from the mess hall was the only sound to be heard in the darkness that surrounded us and it took everything in me not to rip this pretentious prick’s head clean off of his shoulders.

‘What the fuck are you doing here?’ I growled, my voice more feral than I’ve ever heard it before.

‘I knew you were lying to me that day in the woods Dweight.’ He sounded bored and matter of fact which just made me clench my fists in anger.

‘It looks like you bring out her feral side.’ He kicked a bit of dirt over the bloody spot and looked at me with his cold eyes

‘She is stronger than you might think Daniel.’ I snarled, my wolf bristling for a fight.

‘Oh I know what my wife is capable of.’ I growled feeling my skin prickle and my wolf willing me to change.

‘You see the fact of the matter is she really is mine.’ He drawled on and sighed dramatically

‘The hell she is!’ I hissed but he ignored me

‘She will always be mine. I’m sure you’ve seen the mark on her neck.’ He grinned knowing full well he had my attention. A cry of victory had us both look in the direction of the mess hall and I could clearly hear Kelly’s voice shout ‘I won!’

‘Let me put this to you in layman’s terms so you’ll understand me Dweight.’ He looked down at his shoes and polished them on the back of his jeans and once satisfied that they were clean enough he looked me in the eyes -a challenging gesture-.

‘I’ll kill one of your wolves every day if you don’t give her back.’  I snarled but he raised his hand, ‘Believe me, she’ll come willingly if she knew about this ultimatum. She really is a kind soul, well…what’s left of it after I claimed her.’ I started panting knowing that the loud crack filling the air was the beginning of a shift but he didn’t seem perturbed by it.

‘Ever wonder what happens to her if you kill me? I marked her you ignorant pup. You should ask your friend Hillary what happened when her mate was killed. What happened to your father?’ It felt like a bucket of cold water was dumped on me and my wolf instantly retreated. It killed my father and Hillary –even though she is strong- we could hear her crying at night for years.

I couldn’t cause Kelly that much pain but everything in me itched to kill this son of a bitch.

Daniel turned and walked away, calling over his shoulder, ‘Remember, one wolf every day until you give her back. Untouched of course.’ I watched him casually stroll into the darkness before I lashed out at the closest object and smashed my fist into the nearest tree taking a big chunk out of it and then again, removing another chunk.

My hands ached but it was nowhere near what my heart was going through. I had to press hard on the spot to keep it from thumping out of my chest, feeling the patter of blood dripping onto my jeans.

Another howl of laughter as someone shouted ‘Kelly is on a roll! Pay up Calan!’ I had to think of something to keep her.

But I couldn’t risk anyone in my Pack getting hurt either.

Damn you Daniel!

Damn you!
