Julian laid his head on the velvet blue duvet cover on (Y/N)'s bed, his arm stretched out so his fingers were loosely laced with hers. He had tried to keep his eyes open, tried to stay awake, in case she woke up. But he couldn't help but fall asleep, after the day he had had prior to the night before and then the night it was a surprise he hadn't passed out before hand.

(Y/N) could hear a buzzing, a low one but she assumed it was probably from all the blood loss or from all the heeling her body had been doing all night. Everything that was behind her eyes had been black, slowly starting to turn different shades of red and orange. She was sure it was morning, and the sun must be what was causing the change of color behind her eyes.

After the longest time of struggling to open her eyes it came with a gasp, air filling her lungs and light filling her vision. She saw her walls, three of them were white while on the fourth stood a replica of Starry Night that Julian had done, but instead of the original setting it was now the Los Angeles with the Institute dead in the center.

She then saw Julian, his curls matted back across his forehead and his mouth slightly gapped. His arm was draped over hers, his hand barely hanging onto her. (Y/N) smiled at him, poor Julian he must have stayed up so late that he passed out from exhaustion. She looked at her chest, fresh iratze's had been drawn in the same place every hour or so. So he hadn't been asleep very long, (Y/N) thought.

The events of the night prior came rushing back to her, handing Julian her belt and telling him he had her back, dancing with the demon, the demon kissing her, the demon trying to kill Julian, killing the demon and the demon stabbing her. The last thing she remembered was telling Julian she loved him.

That was the first time she had said it, had he heard her? She hoped that he didn't, that would have been far to dramatic. Not to mention not how she wanted to tell him.

Julian groaned, his face contorting in pain before he brought his free hand to run over his face.

"Hey." (Y/N) whispered, she pushed his hair out of his face. She loved watching him wake up, he always looked his simplest then. He didn't look like the kid who had the world on his shoulders, she loved that.

Julian shot straight up, realizing she was up, "You're awake." He acknowledged. His hand was still linked with hers, his thumb running over the back of her hand. "How do you feel?" Julian asked, his eyes moving from her face to her chest.

"Better than I should." (Y/N) joked, letting out a low and throaty laugh before doubling over in pain.

Julian didn't find the joke very funny, "I'll draw another." He said, reaching for his steele that was sitting on her nightstand.

His eyes got caught on a picture of them, they were sitting on the beach, (Y/N) laying between Julian's legs and his arms were wrapped around her waist. They were both smiling, the wind blowing both their hair back. Julian remembered the day, Emma had taken the picture when neither of them was paying attention.

(Y/N) hissed as Julian pressed the steele to her skin, she hadn't realized just how much it hurt until now. "Sorry." Julian mumbled guiltily, doing a thorough job to ensure her pain would stop. She let out a sigh of relief when he finished, feeling the rune working, "Better?" He asked her, setting the steele back down.

"Thank you." (Y/N) said, pushing herself up in bed so she could get a better look at her boyfriend. He leaned against her bed, chin rested in his hands and elbows rested on the bed.

There was never an awkward silence between them that (Y/N) could remember, but now there way. Neither one of them was saying anything, and she was sure now that he had heard her confess her love to him. And he wasn't there yet.

Julian finally spoke, "I thought you died." He said, his voice now horse. Just saying it out loud made his throat close up, made his hands clench and his eyes well.

(Y/N) was stunned, she had never seen Julian so- afraid? She had seen him worried about he kids, stressed over running the Institute and afraid when Mark came home. But she had never seen him like this.

"Julian." She whispered, "I'm right here and I'm alright." She told him, trying to convince both of them.

He shook his head, "No I'm serious (Y/N)." Julian said, his face pulled together in pain. "You jumped in front of me and I was supposed to have your back." He said, his voice finally breaking in the middle.

So that was why he was so upset. She had saved him and he felt guilty.

She sighed, "Julian what I did-"

"Was reckless." He said, looking up at her with glossy eyes. "I can't believe that you did that. I thought I'd lost you and I didn't even get a chance to tell you that I love you." Julian rambled on, his head shaking and tears now retreating back into his eyes. His hand was gripping hers, and hard too.

She smiled, she couldn't believe that he said it. It was the first time that those words had passed his lips, directed towards her at least.

"I love you too." (Y/N) said back, hoping that this was the first time that he was hearing it from her.

Julian's eyes looked just as they did when he awakes in the morning, the innocent look that she remembered from when they were kids. He looked up from their hands, and met her eyes. People ways complimented his eyes but he thought that hers were far prettier.

He kissed her, not the it had been the first time. His lips light on hers, which was surprising considering all that had happened. Julian stood from his stop on the ground, tangling his free hand in her hair while keeping his other one intertwined with hers. He hovered over her, careful not to touch any part of her that had been injured.

After minutes of a classic make out Julian managed to detach his lips from hers, "Don't ever do anything like that again, I would lose my mind if anything happened to you." He mumbled, reattaching his lips to hers so she wouldn't have a chance to argue with him.
