after not spotting logan during and after lunch, the trio decided to search him instead of simply waiting.
"are you sure that we'll find him in here?" virgil questioned the fanciful brunette, who confidently responded, "of course! william t. spears always hangs around in a place full of knowledge."
'alrighty! let's go find him!' patton wrote on his post-it note pad, running to the direction of the library.
the other two that got left behind followed calmly, simply walking on the way to the said place.
while walking, virgil made a face of realization before glancing at roman incredulously. "did you just reference black butler awhile ago?"
the fanciful brunette simply smirked without a word.
-----
after arriving in the library, patton looked around in hopes to find the dark blue-wearing intellect.
he looked aisle by aisle, private room by private room, corner by corner. occasionally, he'd ask the students in the library if they have seen logan. unfortunately, the students either doesn't know where logan is or doesn't even know him.
soon, he spotted logan sitting at a lone table with another student. the student had bandages over half of his face and looked like patton a bit, much to his surprise.
he wasn't surprised the fact that the student looked the same as him though.
patton watched the two talk peacefully, feeling his heart sinking further. he tried to push aside his bubbling emotions as he watched, his chest getting heavier and his breathing getting difficult.
"stop thinking about it. they're just talking. nothing to feel sad about. give them some time alone." he scolded himself mentally.
without thinking twice, patton walked away and headed out of the library before logan or dee could even notice him. he tried to force back the tears daring to spill from his eyes.
his mind got so clouded with thoughts that he hadn't noticed roman and virgil looking at him with concerned expressions as he stood outside of the library.
"you okay, pat? seen logan?" virgil asked, hesitance in his voice. patton forced a smile on himself and act normally, which he did perfectly.
'i'm fine, though i haven't seen him, sadly,' he lied, writing on a post-it note.
"well then, i guess he really clocked out today," virgil mused.
"we could just relax then i guess. take a break or two!" roman suggested. virgil nodded in agreement while patton responded with a 'yes!' on his post-it note.
---------
at the school courtyard, virgil, roman, and patton all sat on a long bench, eating ice cream. except for patton, who ate the cookies he brought along with him.
"hey pat, you look awfully quiet ever since we spotted you at the library. you sure you okay, padre?" virgil asked, noticing the silence.
"of course he would be silent, he's mute after all." roman looked at virgil incredulously, who simply rolled his eyes in annoyance before finishing on eating his ice cream.
patton continued staring at the water of the nearby fountain, seemingly in a trance because of it.
subconsciously, patton put down the bag of cookies and stood up from the bench, approaching the fountain to get a closer view. for some reason, he couldn't hear roman's voice calling out to him nor virgil's.
patton began leaning closer to the water, almost too dangerously close with one hand reaching out to touch it. roman and virgil quickly stood up from the bench and ran to the mute, pulling him away the fountain before he could possibly drown.
suddenly, patton seemingly broke off of the trance and held up a silver coin. 'look at what i found!' he wrote on a post-it note and held up it next to the coin afterwards.
virgil and roman exchanged puzzled looks before looking at patton, who seemed clueless as to what was up.
"oh...okay.." virgil simply said before returning to the bench with patton and roman, who continued eating his cookies peacefully while the fanciful brunette kept a watchful eye.
------
"you really do have a thing for crofters, huh? thought you were all siri and stuff." dee half-joked. logan chuckled a bit, unaware of the slightly noticeable blush on his cheeks.
"crofters jam is the only jelly i'd put in my belly." the intellect said proudly before going to the next page of the book he's holding. "what about you?"
"well, dark chocolate hershey's bar is usually my go, but nestle crunch is cheaper, so i guess... that?" dee replied, sounding a bit unsure at the end of his sentence.
silence then fell upon the two, both not sure how to continue the conversation.
logan looked at the brunette, subconsciously moving closer to him. for some reason, he found his golden brown eyes entrancing. enchanting even.
the intellect and the usually deceptive brunette's faces got closer until the both of them abruptly came back to their senses, both moving away from eachother until they are at a comfortable distance between eachother.
"sorry. i-i got distracted... you just reminded me of someone." logan stuttered before facing his book once more. "that's fine. i didn't know what i was thinking either." dee assured, feeling his heart sink for a bit for some reason.
'of course i would remind you of him.' he muttered mentally with contempt.
