I close the door carefully, trying to be quiet as I walk into my house. I don't think anyone heard me coming in.

-Rosa? -I hear my mother's voice.

    I was wrong.

-Mom... -I turn around slowly and see her standing in the kitchen. -Hi...

    -Hi...

Knowing her the way I do, I wouldn't be surprised if she simply ignored the issue from last night.

-So... -I break the silence after some awkward staring. -I am going to take a shower and I think I'll head out again. -I say in between long pauses.

-Are you going to spend the night out?

    -I think so.

I smile softly and start walking to my room.

-Rosa. -I stop walking as I hear my mother shyly blurting out my name. I walk a few steps back to regain eye contact with her. -Will you stay for lunch? -She asks with a shaky voice.

Holy shit. Is she actually trying to have unnecessary social contact with me? I must acknowledge the effort.

-Sure. -I say under my breath.

She smiles briefly and I go to my bathroom. I take a quick shower and put some comfortable clothes right after. On the way out of my room, I stare at my things thrown on the bed as I notice something a bit odd... I look through the pile of clothes and eventually find my cellphone. Behind the clear phone case, a post-it note. I take the case off and read the note: a phone number and two little hearts. Classic Sarah. I quickly text the number, giggling at myself.

you have a thing for notes, don't you?

After a couple of minutes, anxiously waiting for the answer, I get a text back.

you're lucky i do how else would you get my number, shy gal?

i was going to ask for it but i forgot
