"Hey", I look up at Cole through my sunglasses.
He's wearing black jeans, a grey T-shirt and a navy blue beanie rests on his head.
I don't know about you, but beanies are part of my top three most attractive things about guys. Right under eyes and back muscles.
I give him a grin from where I'm sitting, my feet dangling lazily in the pool.
He sits cross-legged beside me and pulls out a pink sticky note.
"Cole" he begins to read, "I'm outside by the pool cause for some unfathomable reason, today is hot which is so annoying because almost everywhere else, it's snowing. Lack of snow just ruins the entire Christmas spirit but we're getting a white tree so I guess that makes up for something, not much though"
He glances at me, flicking the paper in my direction, "even on paper you rant off point"
I smile sheepishly, flicking the paper back at him, "Believe it or not, I didn't even reread it"
He chuckles, tucking the paper in his front pocket, "I believe it, I've met you remember?"
I lightly punch his shoulder, laughing softly.
"What's that?" he nods towards the book in my lap.
I close it instantly and I'm saved from reply when my phone starts ringing.
What now?
"Hi mother"
"Gwendolyn honey, how are you?"
I cringe, when will she stop calling me that?
"I'm fine, what's up?"
"I just wanted to remind you that your father and I are coming in today for Christmas"
I close my eyes and exhale, "Yes mom, I remember"
She makes a sound of approval, "Good, we'll be in by 2pm so you have to be at the airport before then, you know how much I hate waiting"
I roll my eyes, it's okay for me to wait, but God forbid her.
"I know mom, I'll be there. Which of the jets are you taking?" if they're on good terms, they'll take one but if not, they'll come separately, which means two different limos.
"We're taking your father's" she informs me and I let out an involuntary sigh of relief, let's hope they stay on good terms for the rest of the holiday.
"Okay, anything else?"
"Oh yes, I almost forgot, wear that red dress Mel sent last week"
"I can pick out my own outfits" I frown slightly.
My mother sighs, "I know that but I need you to be seen at the airport in that"
"Why?" she sighs like she's the frustrated one.
"Because, Gwendolyn, it's part of the new designs and I need it to land in the papers"
I scoff, "So have one of your models wear it, I'm your daughter and I'm going to the airport, not to dinner with the prince"
She groans, "Isabella Gwendolyn Paxton, I thought we were through with this phase" by 'phase' she means standing my ground against being one of Grace Paxton's models.
"I'm not in any phase mom, say hi to dad for me, have a safe flight and I'll wear whatever the hell I want to"
I hang up before she can reply.
I sigh, running my hands down my face. Talking to that woman never fails to stress me out.
"So I'm guessing you'll be wearing something that pisses her off" Cole comments, smiling slightly.
