[SHORT CHAP]

JONG KOOK is pacing back and forth in his office.

He has just dropped Lindi in her accommodation, and now he is free to go home.

But he's afraid of facing Ji Hyo in their house. She looked really mad earlier that he did not know what to say.

He might have really gone overboard with what he said.

He did not even know that the two of them were enemies. Right after he acted as a husband to Ji Hyo by stopping Lindi from physically hurting her, he acted as someone making sure Lindi is comfortable in Korea by telling Ji Hyo off.

He never meant for it to sound too insulting to her.

He glances at his wrist watch. It's already eight o'clock. Is Ji Hyo already home? Should he go home now?

Just thinking of going home and seeing Ji Hyo's dead glare as he enters the house makes him shiver.

He has no idea how to deal with that.

So he takes out his phone and dials Jae Seok's number.

Half an hour later, he is already in a restaurant, grilling meat when he sees Jae Seok walking in.

He calls him to his table.

"Yah, what are you doing here when you should be eating dinner with your wife right now? It had been still two days since you came from your honeymoon. Don't tell me you already grew tired of each other? " Jae Seok nags as soon as he sits at the seat across him.

"I'm afraid to go home, Hyung. " he admits.

"Why? Did you do something wrong? "

Jong Kook recalls the event that happened earlier that day.

"Stupid. " is the first word Jae Seok says.

"I was just trying to keep the deal open with the guest."

"Yah! You should prioritize your wife first. Always take her side. Even though she's wrong, she's right. That's what you should learn now that you're a husband."

Jong Kook's brows furrow. "What kind of crazy rule is that? "

"It's crazy but it's the only way you could keep her, stupid. You should've known that, especially that you married a very opinionated and independent woman like Song Ji Hyo."

He doesn't answer as he finds Jae Seok's words right. He had always known that.

"Then what should I do, Hyung? " he asks.

"Go home and say sorry."

"I already tried that earlier, she told me off."

"Then don't go home. " Jae Seok easily says.

"Hyung! " he snaps. How could this person be so easily swayed and inconsistent?

"Aish. You can't blame me! We both know Song ji Hyo. She might be often blank, but she's someone you shouldn't mess with when angry." he admits and leans closer to the table. "Honestly, I'm kinda worried for you if you get home."

"Hyung! " he whines.

"Why are you even fighting already? " Jae Seok says in frustration. "Haven't you thought this through when you proposed to her? "

"No." he says, feeling guilty of being ashamed at the moment. "I mean, I just hoped this kind of time wouldn't come when I decided to do it. "

Jae Seok stares at him sympathetically as Jae Seok reaches to pat him in the shoulder. "You have to go through this, Kim Jong Kook. Fighting! " he cheefs.

Jong Kook stares at him in disbelief. "That's all you really have to say to me right now? "

"Yes."

Jong Kook shakes his head. "You're unbelievable."

Jong Kook enters the dark house, nervousness thumping in his system, getting ready for Ji Hyo's anger that would fire up at him any minute.

He silently tiptoes towards the bedroom, expecting to see Ji Hyo's angry glare the moment he walks in.

What he did not expect is to see an empty bed, and to feel his chest get squeezed as anxiety spreads in his system.

"Ji Hyo? " he calls loudly as he goes around the house, his mind starting to get crazy as he sees no Ji Hyo in every door he opens.

Ji Hyo did not go home. Where is she?

Is she alright?

What if something happened to her?

Now he wishes she could be standing right here in front of him, glaring at him, instead of making him worry of wherever the hell she is right now.

His hands tremble as he takes his phone out of his pocket and dials Jae Seok.

"Hyung. " he says the moment Jae Seok answers.

"Ou? Are you alright? You sound shaken."

"Ji Hyo.." He stutters.

"Why? What did she do to you? " he asks.

"Hyung, she's not home."

"What? "

"Hyung, she's not home. Where the hell is that woman? "

"Your voice is shaking because she's not home? And here I thought she's torturing you right now."

"She is." he admits before he could stop himself. His mind is at a clutter right now. He couldn't stop worrying about Ji Hyo not being right in front of him right now. "I can't sit still until I know where the hell she is! "

"Kim Jong Kook, calm down. I'm sure she's just somewhere, tortuing a doll thinking of it as you."

"Hyung! That's not really helping! "

"Fine. Fine. Just calm down. I'll call the others. "

The other line beeps as Jae Seok hangs up. Jong Kook tries to calm down. He sits down at the edge of the bed, feeling guilty as he remembers Ji Hyo's betrayed expression earlier when he used a loud voice on her in front of Lindi.

Why did he even have to interfere?! He could have just left. He was sure Ji Hyo could have handled it herself.

He heaves a sigh. "Where are you, Song Ji Hyo?" he mutters.

A couple minutes of staring at nothing and his phone rings. He answers Jae Seok's call immediately. "Hyung? "

"You can relax now. She's just at So Min's."

He jumps right into his feet and heads to the door. "Then give me So Min's address quick. "

"No. Jong Kook, stay at your house. "

He stops walking right at the door of the bedroom. "What? "

"Don't get her. For tonight. Let her calm down."

"But—!"

"I know it's hard not to have her there, Jong Kook-ah. But you guys have to cool your head for you to discuss things calmly. You need to learn things like this for you to be able to handle major things later in your marriage. "

Jong Kook sighs, admitting to himself that Jae Seok is right. "Fine. Thanks, Hyung. "

He throws himself to the bed and surrenders to the exhaustion that has been threatening to weaken him.
