Shattering

Ji Hyo stares at Kim Jong Kook as he stands there, shirtless and leaning against the counter top, one hand on the handle of a pitcher and the other around an empty glass laid on top of the counter.

If she isn’t so furious right now, she would have taken the luxury to stand there and drool at the sight of his bare chest.

But after the loud fight in the van, she thought she has to let it go and just go to sleep.

But her mind is still swirling and her chest is too tight she might suffocate or go insane if she doesn’t confront him tonight.

He looks at her with an expression that seems to be reading her, and she doesn’t say a word.

Silence rings between them as she searches for words to interrogate him.

“What?” he finally asks, breaking the heavy silence between them.

She meets his gaze and tries to catch anything that flashes his eyes as she shoots her questions. “How long have you known that witch?”

She catches his brow furrow a little as if he is annoyed to hear her call the lady a witch. But it disappears just as soon as it appeared.

He scoffs, as if he finds that funny, igniting the irritation she has been trying to control.

“I barely know her.” he answers, letting go of the things he has in his hand to plant his hands against the edge of the counter.

“So you’ve known her before tonight?”

“So what if I’d known her---!”

“Had she been one of your flings back then?”

“What? No! Just why in the hell are you asking all these--?”

“What did you talk about in the balcony?” she cuts her off again, her gut becoming queasy as she find him avoiding to answer her questions straightly.

Then he looks down and she hears him sigh, as if her questions are getting on his nerves.

Irritation is present on his gaze when he lifts it back at her again.

“Yah, don’t you think you’re being paranoid right now? You almost got that girl bald for no reason!”

“No reason?!” she repeats, scandalized at his being cool with having those women touch him.

“They’re obviously flirting with you and you’re enjoying the attention they’re giving!” she exclaims, leaning away from the table to flail her arms as if gesturing to the ladies at who-knows-where.

Her chest tightens it’s almost hard for her to breathe as she remembers going around to search for him, longing for that familiar sense of security that only his arms could provide right after having to converse with several people and only to catch other women’s hands all over him!

And what was worse was that he tried to defend them from her!

“Yah, Song Ji Hyo.” He says loudly and sternly. “I’m not as low as you think I am! You should stop acting like I am someone shallow. And you should get your temper in check. You’d been embarrassing a lot of people lately.”

Her mouth hangs open in shock. She can’t believe she’s hearing this from him, and that she’s seeing this kind of expression from him.

No matter how much they bicker at each other, she has never seen such angry look at his face as she is seeing now.

His brows are furrowed as if just looking at her is displeasing.

“Embarrassing people?! Get my temper in check? You think I get mad for no reason?!”
