Thomas struggled with Dissasociative Identity Disorder, each day was a new struggle with his 'alters'.
Today, Thomas was going to the zoo with his friends Joan and Talyn 1: To catch up on things and 2: because he really loved the zoo!
By the time Joan and Talyn had arrived at Thomas' home, the other was ready to leave. He had been wearing a blue polo with a gray cardigan tied around his shoulders, a pair of black glasses.. but not just any glasses, Warby Parkers, and a pair of black pants.
Thomas was a giggly mess, he was ecstatic and could not wait to leave.
Talyn smiled, this alter was their favorite, he was just so pure and happy and innocent, it was as if he could do no wrong in Talyn's eyes. "Ready to go?" They asked as they looked around to see if Patton, which was what they had been calling this alter, had grabbed the case of clothes and makeups in case he had altered again.
Patton nodded vigorously, he was eager to leave but they couldn't leave yet... not without the case. Joan and Talyn began to look around the house as Patton watched and bounced on the couch a bit. After a while, Joan looked at Patton from behind the stairs and cocked their eyebrow.
"Pat, where's the case of clothes?" Patton grinned that all-too-familiar ornery child-like grin and shrugged.
Joan groaned and narrowed his eyes at Patton. Minutes after scolding Patton, they finally revealed the location of the case, Talyn ran upstairs and practically dove into Thomas' closet and grabbed the case. "Alright, we ready to go?"
Each of them nodded and with that, they made their way to the zoo. It was almost a half hour drive to the zoo and they had to get Patton... or Thomas there, without a dramatic altercation.
They were halfway to the zoo when Patton had gotten a terrible migraine. Talyn groaned knowing that it was the start of an altercation.
About five minutes later, Patton had become Roman. "Greetings Star-Crossed lovers, what have I missed?" Talyn just smiled and rolled their eyes as they leaned back and grabbed Roman's usual attire. "Roman, it's always a pleasure."
Roman smiled as he swiftly got changed in front of the other two, obviously not caring. Thomas would never do this... he'd never exposed himself in front of others let alone his friends.
They had made it to the zoo and Roman had begun singing the first Disney song that came to mind. "A dream is a--"
Talyn glared at Roman, though they did enjoy Disney songs, sometimes they can be a bit.... too much, especially with Roman. "Roman, I swear if you continue that sentence I will cut your tongue out of your mouth."
Roman smirked and crossed his arms. "But if you damage this masterpiece, you damage Thomas and poor Patton."
Joan looked between the two knowingly. "He does have a point."
Talyn groaned but then got an idea as they slowly approached Roman, "But I can also explain to them how irritable you are, I'm sure they'll understand... I mean, they live in the same mind as you."
That's when Roman began to grow nervous, he tugged at the collar of his shirt and looked anywhere but Talyn. "I-I uh, suppose you pose a point, but must we hold grudges? For all I've done is sing a song of purity!"
Joan smiled and grabbed Talyn's hand, as they could tell their star-crossed lover was growing enraged with the imbecile in front of them. "Tilly, I think we should go into the zoo before it closes..."
Everyone had been wandering the zoo for about an hour when they came upon a tiger, at first it appeared as if it wasn't there like maybe the zookeeper had taken it in for food or something when it popped up from the corner with a low growl, scaring everyone.
Apparently, it scared Roman enough to shock him into an altercation and before you knew it Roman became Virgil, Virgil was the more vigilant side of Thomas' alters... guess that's why his name starts with a "V".
Virgil jumped back and ran into a stranger causing him to leap forward, Talyn just chuckled. They loved how jumpy Virgil was as did Joan.
Virgil got a good look at himself and realized he was in Romans clothes and began to gag, "Gross, please tell me you brought the case!"
Talyn smiled and nodded as they made their way to a bathroom for Virgil to change. Virgil wasn't like the rest of the alters, sure they were all gay much like Thomas was but they all were individually.... themselves.
Roman was extremely prideful and cared deeply about his looks, he took a lot of selfies and spent most of his time on Instagram and you could probably guess his favorite taste in music.... pop.
Patton was the eldest but the most child-like, he had a deep passion for Dad Jokes and loved to bake but he spent most of his time caring for others while he listened to The Beatles, music varying from different musicals and pop.
Logan was well known, and by that I mean he was logical, more so than any person should be able to be. The other alters often teased him for his lack of humanity but it was easily brushed aside. Logan rarely ever listened to music, but when he did he listened to a certain song that he held fairly close to heart... Immortals by Fall Out Boy.
Virgil was the youngest... not by much, he was just the last alter to appear. All the other alters were with Thomas since birth but Virgil only arrived when Thomas turned twelve. Anyway...
Virgil was the more vigilant alter, he kept the alters on their toes, constantly aware of what's going on around them. One would say that he's a bit of a scaredy cat. What separates him from the others is that Virgil is actually Genderqueer, not that they wouldn't be accepting.
Virgil eventually came out of the bathroom. (Not the closet) with his usual black and purple patched hoodie, black ripped skinny jeans, and black eyeshadow under his eyes with his messy hair falling over his face. "Can we go now? I'm kind of done with this place."
The other two had nodded with a slight chuckle, not that they had expected anything less of Virgil.
Life was often like this, Talyn and Joan would come over to check on Thomas but covered it with plans and throughout the day Thomas would alternate between himself and the others about four times.
It wasn't always exactly simple... but it was nice.
