Chapter 4

A few weeks have passed and Toshi and Yumi are spending more time together after he helped Lloyd get more herbs. He took her to a special spot this time.

"Well, this is the training grounds my mother use to train in," he said.

He was about to think about someone, but he started crying.

'Why can't Flow and Viv get along..?' he thought.

"Toshi, what's wrong?" the Pidgey girl asked in a kind tone.

"I'm tired of my cousins fighting," he answered, "Just a few weeks ago Flow and Vivian were fighting over something stupid again. Why can't they just get along...?"

"It's nothing to worry about," Yumi said calmly, "They will stop fighting soon, I promise."

Yumi could sense his feelings and layed beside him.

"There," she whispered, rubbing Toshi's back, "it's okay..."

Toshi calmed down a little. He does have a soft spot for Yumi. He wiped off all his tears. Then Yumi touched a pair of lips on his cheek. Toshi's heart start to pound.

'Ah, man. Hope she doesn't hear my heart pounding...' Toshi thought, 'Will you slow down all ready? I don't want her to know, not yet at least!'

Toshi couldn't hide his feelings from Yumi.

"Yumi, I..."

That got her attention.

"You don't have to worry about your cousins fighting anymore," she said.

"Aha!"

Toshi got startled by Diana's voice.

"So that's why Yumi's not in there recovering!" Diana barked, "And you were just-"

"Diana, stop that!" Toshi huffed, "She needed fresh air once in a while, and you scared the fish away!"

"But there's something going on between you two, isn't there?" Diana asked.

"Well... uh..."

Toshi was kind of stunned to the fact Diana may have a point.

"It's been a few weeks and she looks well recovered," he said, "Can you show her Yumi?"

Yumi nodded and spread out her Pidgey wings. Her right wing looks fully recovered.

"Okay, I get it.." Diana sighed, "So is there something going on between you two or not?"

"We're just getting together," Toshi answered.

Yumi blushed when she heard him say that and landed on the ground. Diana's Rockruff tail started wagging.

"I knew it!" she barked, "You do have a thing for her!"

"Okay, but let's not let everyone hear you," Toshi added.

Diana left and Yumi went up to him looking pleased.

"Really, Toshi?" Yumi asked.

"Yeah. What Diana said was true," Toshi answered, "I do have a crush on you."

"Well, I have a crush on you too," Yumi replied, "Ever since we met, I couldn't stop thinking about you."

"Oh, my heart pounded too soon..." Toshi added.

Yumi hugged him. Toshi's feelings were strong now. He has a strong and gentle heart. He hugged Yumi back, avoiding to touch her Pidgey wings in her back. He slid his hands under her wings. Toshi vowed to himself he'll always love Yumi like the way she loves him back.

"Thanks Yumi," Toshi said softly, "For being here with me. Linda will find a place for you to stay in, don't you worry."

Nairi was asleep that night. She was about to wonder what her mother was planning for her. Flow was awake too. The two cousins were doing a little snooping as Nairi listened to Erica and Mya talking.

"These fights Viv and Flow do are getting out of hand," Mya said, "and I'm afraid Viv will get scratched."

"She needs to stop teasing Flow, I know," Erica sighed, "Edward is having a word with her right now. I'm sure something will work out between them."

Flow felt guilt rush all around her body. Nairi can sense it. They went back to the room slowly.

"Guess you really have been on edge," she said.

Flow shivered then started crying.

"I know.." she sobbed, "I wish I wasn't that short tempered all the time..."

Nairi sighed. She hugged Flow to comfort her.

"It's going to be okay," she cued, "Whatever my mother and Linda are planning for us, you can bury the hatchet with Vivian during it."

Flow sighed, feeling Nairi's arms around her. Then they heard a scream.

"Vivian..." Flow gasped, "She's in trouble!"

Nairi nodded and went with her. An Absol girl had the Wingull girl pinned.

"Let her go!" Nairi yelled, getting on top of her.

The Plusle girl started biting hard and Flow was standing in front of Vivian, defending her. Then flames were fired and Nairi jumped out of the way. Lloyd must of used ember. His mouth was filled with fire. He launched at the Absol girl using fire fang.

"Get up," Flow called softly to Vivian.

Lloyd was still using fire fang on the Absol girl. Flow leaped in front of her with her claws out and lashed her between the eyes.

"Meddlers!" the Absol girl growled, "I will report you to Kenji... for my name, it's Athena. I'll never forget-"

Lloyd lashed out his claws and hit her on the right cheek.

"Leave!" he hissed, "Tell whoever is in charge that if you or him come here again, he's in for a bad time!"

"If you hurt my cousin again, I'll give you more than a scratch!" Flow spat, "Now get out of here and leave our family alone!"

Athena backed away and ran off. Vivian was seriously injured.

"Thank you Flow.." she whispered.

Lloyd checked her out.

"She's hurt very bad," he said, "I'm taking her to the healing hut."

Nairi hoped that Lloyd knows what he's doing. They followed him to the healing hut.

Toshi and Yumi darted inside and saw Vivian injured on the bed she's laying on. Lloyd treated her wounds on her arm and leg.

"That should do it," he purred.

"What happened?" Mandy asked.

"She was attacked by an Absol girl," Lloyd answered, "She'll be fine, but she is shaken up."

Toshi looked spooked.

"I knew something is going on.." he sighed.

"It's fine now," Lloyd replied, "Nairi and Flow came to her rescue. She should be sleeping now. Her wings aren't broken, that's for sure. I gave her some Tulip rods and other herbs to prevent infection on her arm and leg."

"I'm glad she's okay.." Mandy sighed in relief.

"Let her rest now," Lloyd put in, "She'll need it."
