Chapter 5

Nairi and Flow went in the healing hut to check on Vivian the next morning. The Wingull girl looked calmer than before. Flow looked a little worried.

"I hope that makes up from those fights," she said.

Diana was hoping that the grown ups would come too, but they are a little busy with the plan.

"I've told Erica and Edward," she said, "But I need to fill in for them."

"I've just got her bandages changed an hour ago," Tammy added, "but she will be fit as a fiddle in about a week."

"Athena, this means war.." Nairi growled under her breath.

"What was that?" Diana asked.

"The Absol girl's name is Athena," Nairi answered.

"She will pay for what she did to my sister," Mandy nodded in agreement, "Nairi's right. This means war!"

"Now hold on a second," Toshi gasped, "Are we jumping to conclusions here? We need to think of a plan to take Athena by surprise."

They all thought it through, then they all nodded. Toshi was a bit worried if Athena will strike again. He started looking around and knows if the cost was clear. Then the others were behind him.

"I think she's gone," Mandy added.

"Yeah," Nairi replied, "We'll be waiting for her."

Toshi was looking around, not saying a word.

"She really is gone," Flow mewed, "I can't smell her scent now, it's very stale.."

They went back inside and Vivian was still sore from the struggle. She was given some food and a drink by Diana. Viv could barely sit up. Her right arm and left leg have been healing well. The bandages have been replaced last night and she looked like she's dizzy.

"Come on," Diana added, "There are things you can do left handed..."

Vivian sighed.

"Let her be Diana," Mandy replied, "She'll come around, when she feels hungry."

Nairi listened and signed. She went to her room in the base since it has extended. The Shadow Hunters and daylight girls merged their bases into one since her aunt Erica started a family with Edward ten years ago.

Toshi was about to make his rounds by walking to the river to meet up with Yumi after she found a place to stay. She made herself at home in a tree house.

"Yumi!" Toshi called out, "You want to get something to eat? You may need some food up there.."

"Sure," Yumi called back and flew down to the ground.

She looked at him, knowing they're going out. They have been spending a lot of time together. They headed to the mess hall to grab something to eat and have supper. After that they went over to the river.

"That was a good meal," Yumi said, "I've never been so stuffed with food like this.."

"Auntie Erica makes great meals," Toshi replied, "I'm sure Lloyd has Vivian under his care, and Tammy does look after her. She will be leaving the hut in a week or so.."

"That's good," Yumi added, "I could be a healer too, but having Lloyd around, I think he needs help once in a while."

"That would be great," Toshi said with delight, "I bet you would make a great healer."

Yumi was flattered by his opinion.

"Come here you," she cued.

She opened one wing to cover them as she kisses him for the first time on the lips. Toshi's hazel eyes were wide. He knew it was happening so fast. He relaxed as he enjoys the kiss. Yumi's Pidgey feathers from her out stretched wing brushed his cheek, how soft they are. Toshi felt like crying with joy, but he tries not to. Soon they broke away and stared at each other with love in their eyes.
