Never would I think that my summer vacation would turn into a 'Unsolved Mysteries' episode.

But, you can't expect too much from life can you?

Here I was. Ashton always by my side and a girl that claimed she was my best friend's twin.

"Okay, so we got it down, right?" Ashton looked at me lovingly but also intently.

I could tell he was as nervous as I was.

The thing is, we weren't doing anything hard, just watching Laura closely. Since she acts weird and zones out of her life for only seconds of time, it's hard to predict what she will do next in various occasions.

Like this one.

Ashton and I set out and walked to our meeting place: El Pez

It was a well-known restaurant around our area. Most would go there just to talk or drink a cup of coffee.

Not us. We were there to observe.

We walked into the restaurant only to find Laura already sitting at a table waiting for us to come join.

She waved and hugged us both.

"Hola, hola." She giggled. "Please, sit."

We ordered a few fries to share and each a drink.

"Listen." She said, picking up a fry. "I am so, very glad that I made new friends. I will answer any question you guys have for me."

Ashton and I nodded and shared a glance.

"How many total years did you stay at your tia's house?"

"Well, I stayed until I was 16. Then, she kicked me out." She glanced out the window. Outside there were two kids laughing together and running.

She quickly became joyful and mirrored their expression.

Ashton noticed, as well as I, and he took out his phone and pretended to text. Really, he was writing it down in Notes.

"Her name was Helena. People often say that she was the one who named me. She was only twenty when she decided to take me in for a while."

Again, she looked around until her eyes fell on a teenager who was drinking from her straw and smiling. Then, looking around once more, she saw another girl who was twirling her hair and singing along to the restaurant's song.

She began sipping on her Coke and twirling her hair. Mirroring all of them at once.

Ashton wrote down some more.

And, just like that, we spent the whole afternoon talking about what her life was like after she decided to stay.

I felt like a brick was lifted off my shoulders when I went home after that was over with.
