ASHTON SAT LISTENING to every word I said. From beginning to end. I saw his eyes widen intently at all she had said to me.
"And so I bursted out without even saying bye and out of all the anger,-"
"You went to the bathroom and cried your eyes out." He finished for me.
"Yeah, basically." I tried to laugh it off so it didn't seem like a big deal.
A moment of silence passed by, Ashton hugged me and I sunk into him.
"But, thank you. Really Ashton, you helped me through all this. I mean, not even my best friend wanted to do this with me." Laughing, I thought about all the times Amelia stared at me with disbelief when I told her this.
"Hey, what am I for?" He lightly chuckled and I smiled, listening to the beat of his heart.
I thought deeply about all Ashton had said to me about this plan.
"Wait." I sat up and stared at him.
"Hm?" He stroked my hair.
"You would always say something to me when I brought this up. Something like 'be careful' or 'don't get too far ahead'."
I thought more about this and everything made sense now.
"You tried not to get my hopes up...you didn't want me to end up this way."
"Yeah, but I didn't want to get you down, Scar. I thought maybe this once something good might come out of it. I didn't want to let my pessimistic side take over."
"Ash, you were trying to protect me. I should've listened to you, to everything. I'm sorry." I pulled on his sweatshirt and kissed him gently.
"Hey kids, hope I'm not interrupting anything." Amelia walked into the house with a few bags in her hands.
"Do you like wait until we kiss so you can come in and ruin the moment?" Ashton turned his head and squinted his eyes at her.
"Maybe."
"Ame, what the-" She cut me off, putting the bags on the island.
"Anywho, I brought some of the ingredients of my favorite foods and Ash, the kitchen is all yours. Your welcome." Ame plopped down on the couch and started flipping through channels.
"You expect me, your friend, to make you food?" Ashton couldn't hide his cute smile.
"Yup, what are friends for?" Ame sat next to me as Ashton started opening up the bags.
"I'll help." I started to stand up and Ame pushed me down.
"Quick question." Amelia looked at both of us. "Are you guys even official yet?"
Ashton and I smiled. "No, not really." I answered for both of us.
"What are you waiting for?"
"I don't know. I mean we both know we're in love with each other and no one else, so what's the point in rushing everything." Ashton looked up and started heading toward me.
"Exactly." I hugged him and he sat down.
"I guess it makes sense." Amelia suddenly remembered something. "Wait, your mom. What happened?"
"She's not coming. She left because she wanted to continue modeling with me but, I wasn't pretty. So she left when I was born."
"Scar, even if your mom isn't here, there are a lot of people that love you. Like your dad, Ashton, and I." Ame put a hand on my shoulder.
We spent the rest of the afternoon talking and just hanging out.
I was surrounded by people who actually cared.

I pulled the covers onto me as Ashton removed his shirt and changed into his black shorts.
Not in front of me. Definitely not in front of me.
"Shirtless now, huh?" I smirked at him, trying not to look at his six pack.
"Like what you see?"
"You're unbelievable." I laughed at him.
"Can you please tell me what happened today?" He climbed into bed.
"Nothing." I look away.
"Scar, friends don't lie."
"Wow, so now you're going to use Stranger Things? Okay, it worked. I burned everything and I was going to burn myself."
"Scar, please don't do this to yourself. To me. You know I-" He was starting to get tense.
"Ash, I won't. I'll never.... It was just out of anger. I love you, I would never leave you."
He kissed me passionately and it started to escalate. Soon, I was on top of him and he was going on and on. He found a way to put me beneath him.
I laughed. "I've never done this before." My cheeks turned red and I tried to catch my breath.
"There's a first time for everything." We continue kissing but, we knew nothing more was going to happen. It wasn't time.
Yet.

"Okay class, I have news for you." Ashton and I settled down as we listened attentively to Ms. Rusk.
"We are going on a five-day trip to a place called 'Neutron'. There we will look and learn about the stars and have fun. We will stay at a hotel there so start deciding who you are sharing a room with. Boys and girls are allowed."
Instantly, Ash and I looked at each other. We chuckled.

I headed out of class with Ashton but, Ms. Rusk called me.
"So, I wanted to talk to you about something."
"Hit me." I smiled.
"You and Ashton. Was I wrong for thinking there could be a spark?"
