EVERYONE WAS SILENT. I couldn't contain myself. You can say I'm not pretty or cute or funny but, you can't say that just because I'm none of those things that the person that loves me will leave me.

All of a sudden, Kevin started clapping slowly, "Congrats, you passed the test."

Ashton choked on his scrambled eggs. "What?"

Kevin laughed loudly as he looked at my grim expression, "What test?"

"I wanted to see if you were good enough for Ashton. I'm not that much of a douche." He took a bite out of his pancakes. Something in the kitchen dinged. "Oh, the toast is ready, excuse me."

I stared at him as he walked off. "Is he serious?"

Ashton sighed, "I'm so sorry, Scar. I should've canceled or something."

"Ash, we couldn't keep dodging him forever." I let out a light laugh, "Besides, I wanna see what this kid is about." I took a sip of my water and eyed him while he came back.

"So Kevin, how long have you been with that blondie?" I nodded my head to the door.

"Only a few days. She's like a one night stand that never leaves." He rolled his eyes but, smirked. "Not that I want her to but, every girl is dying to get with me." He pointed at himself and chuckled.

"So what are you guys doing this weekend?" Kevin was suddenly interested in us.

"Probably, uhh, play... Xbox." Ashton scratched the back of his head.

I leaned into him. "You are the worst lier I've ever met." I whispered to him. He tried not to laugh but, failed.

"Now tell me, what you guys are really doing?"

"Meeting my mom."

Kevin stared at me. "No joke?"

I shook my head.

"Scar, you didn't have to tell him if you didn't want to." Ashton put his arm around me.

"It's okay." I smiled at Ashton and he started playing with my hair.

"I've wanted to for a long time now and, thanks to Ash, now I can."

"Kevin! It's been 20 minutes!" The blondie shouted.

"I better go. Nice meeting you Scar. I think I'll get very used to you." He smiled and I politely returned it.

"Sorry about what happened back there." I laid down at my bed and pulled Ashton down with me.

"What do you mean you're sorry? Scar, that was epic. The way you went 'Don't talk to me like that, boy' was hysterical! Did you see the look on his face? He just got owned by a 16 year old." We bursted out laughing.

"Plus, he's right. I do need someone who'll stand up for me sometimes and who'll fight." He admitted.

"Wow. So this time, I'm your knight in shining armor." We chuckled and laid there for a moment.

"Now that you finally shut my brother up, he won't bother little me anymore." He waited a second before he spoke. "So thank you."

"Hey, you want me to kick butt? I'll kick butt. It's basically my job, now." I pretended to act cool but that only got me laughed at.

I sure did need him just as much as he needed me.

I practiced breathing and approaching her. Trying to keep my steady and look presentable.

"'Hi. I'm not Luna Cary, I'm actually your daughter.' Nah, I can't say that. 'Hey, it's me, Scarlett.'" I sighed in frustration and Ashton came into the music room with a bowl of pretzels.

"Whatcha doing?"

"Trying to find the right words to say to my mother when I meet her for the first time tomorrow. Why?"

"Scarlett, you ramble when you get nervous. I get that it's Friday, but, it's only half past 12 and you're already panicking."

"I know, I know. I'm sorry, it's just I want everything to be perfect. I want to look perfect, act perfect, and say perfect things. I want her to love me, Ash."

Ashton wrapped me into his chest. "You are already perfect for me, Scar. And you'll always be, just don't change yourself for someone you don't know what is like."

I looked at him in the eyes and nodded, sinking back into the warmth of his chest.

It was time. I've waited 16 years for this. To meet her. To hug her. Just to see her face in person.

All I had with me was my phone, a picture of her holding me when I was born, and Ashton.

I needed Ashton the most.

He looked at me and squeezed my hand. The ride there was very quiet.

As we walked into the airport, I looked at the time.

8:51 a.m.

I searched around and watched people enter from other flights and leave. I waited about 10 minutes with Ashton until something caught my eyes.

The girl in the picture: blonde hair, blue eyes and perfectly straight teeth and clear skin, was walking towards the seats.

I went up to her and I caught her attention. Ashton stayed back, watching everything.

"H-hi." I managed to drawl out.

"Hello?" She was confused. I didn't blame her.

"I'm not actually Luna Cary. I really wanted to meet you because...your my mom."
