Walking into my moms room posing "How do I look?" I ask her "Cute" she says "Where's the interview again?" She ask coming and fixing my blazer. She was off today since my brother has two games tonight, he's playing both teams since a player got injured.
"Some tatto shop Clyde was telling me about, I think he knows the manager but I'll just be booking appointments and receptionist work" I said "Oh with these tattoo you'll definitely get it" she jokes "if I do I'll definitely be adding more!" I laugh leaving out the room.
My interview was at 10 am this morning, thank God I didn't have to take my sister to school and my mom made us breakfast. Getting my things I met my mom in the kitchen "Mmmm it smells so good in here" I said sitting at the bar as she places a plate of food in front of me. Pancakes, sausage and eggs with a cup of orange juice "So Whatcha doing on your off day?" I ask her "Who knows child, their father wants to meet but I don't know about all that. He already came here unannounced." She tells me eating her food.
I had a good hour to eat and talk with my mom before I left "Good luck baby" she kisses me "Hopefully I'll be calling with good news" I say leaving out the door. I was taking Clyde a plate of food afterwards but I was going back home to spend time with my mom. I could tell by our talk this morning she doesn't like the fact that he's back, especially since we don't know why and it's upsetting her baby boy.
Arriving at the tattoo shop A Fifth of Ink, I was early by 15 minutes but I still went inside. "Hi, I'm here to see David. I have an interview at 10" I tell the girl sitting at the desk "He's in the back with a client. He will be out shortly" she says and I take a seat waiting.
Twenty minutes later he comes out "Sorry about that, walk-in I had to do a consolation" he says before I follow him to his office "Kehlani? Am I saying it right?" He asks and I nod "Yeah but you can call me Keys or Lani like my family" I tell him "Cool.. Keys I like that, well I really need a receptionist because my artist at the front desk is a No No" he says making me laugh "I brought my resume" I show him. I don't have much work experience but I did keep two steady jobs through high school.
Looking over it "This is good, you have customer service experience. I told Clyde you'd get the job because I need the help anyway and you're family practically. Him vouching for you was a bonus" he says and I nod "Any conflict with scheduling? We're open Tuesday thru Sunday from 11 am to 9 pm unless special appointment are scheduled" he hand me a packet with procedures, rules and regulations. "I may also be getting a side job working on Friday's, just during school hours tho" I tell him "As long as you can work all other day I can give you Fridays off." He says and I nod telling him that'll work.
After telling me about what the job consist of and my duties around the shop, I was on my way and I'd be starting Tuesday morning at 8 am so I can get a walk thru of the shop and learn the basics before we open. I was excited as hell on the way to drop Clyde's food off, honking the horn not bothering to get out he comes outside looking like he just woke up.
