"Aww baby look at you" my mom coos as I sit at the dinning room table "You look like a working women" she jokes making us all laugh "Mhmmm lemme hold something sis" my brother says holding out his hand "Boy bye here!" I slap it away laughing.
It was Thursday night and we were about to have dinner, mom got off early today and cooked a huge meal since she didn't Sunday. When I got home from work my mom was almost done cooking and my ambling were in their skin, I took the time to shower and chill on my roof outside my window. I smoked and listened to beats until Kierra text me telling me to come down for dinner, although I was a little tired I mostly look like this cause I'm high out of my mind. I was in my zone since I haven't been listening to beats or in the studio much this week.
"How's it been Lani?" My mom asks me about my job "I like it a lot actually, they are almost always busy though" I say "Yeah I noticed your first day was the only day you came in by 10" Kierra adds "Ohhhh somebody's missed me" I tease her "Girl bye! I'm just tired of big goofy over here" she joked with my brother making us all laugh. We all sat around the table saying grace before digging in.
Oven roasted pot roast with brown gravy chopped potatoes and carrots, over white rice with macaroni and cheese and string beans as the vegetable. She also made blueberry muffins and her special made strawberry lemonade, when I say mommy threw down in the kitchen I'm saying she did her thing! Lunch gone have me sleepy tomorrow boy.
"Okay, remember that next week" he stale faces her making us laugh more "How's babysitting baby brother?" I ask him. With me working now Keon has to look out for Kierra while mommy and I are at work "It's straight, I mean I'm tired of cooking" he laughs "Boy Digerno Pizza is hardly cooking" mommy says making us laugh "Pshhhh, I gotta watch it so it doesn't burn right? I gotta cook it before we can eat it right?" He says making us shake our head st him. "What'd I say.. big and goofy" I say jokingly.
"Y'all got room for dessert?" My mom ask coming the dining room with a red velvet cake covered in nuts topped with strawberries "Oooohhh tell me it's some vanilla bean ice cream" I jump up heading to the freezer "Yessssss" I grab four spoons jointing them at the table "Damn ma, what's the special occasion?" Keon ask as she cuts the cake "Right, cause you went all out.. on a Thursday at that" Kierra adds "Shooot I'm not complaining" I was already eating my cake since she cute mines first "Well... I got a promotion" she says and we all scream happily and congratulate her!
"I am now Head of the entire ER and ICU nursing units!" She smiles happily "Aww mommy I'm so proud of you" I say as we all hug her "Thank you babes, I couldn't do any of this without y'all help. I know I ask y'all for so much over there years but now.. Now we can finally live how I always dreamed" she wiped her tears of joy. As she told us about her new job title and duties we were interrupted "So you're gonna be home more?" Kierra ask "Yessss baby, now I can be all in y'all business" she jokes as the door bell rings "Oh no!.. I'll get it" I say after joking with my mom.
