I was outside Toushai's apartment building waiting for her to come to the door. Today was Saturday and the shop was crazy busy, she was scheduled to work today and yesterday but she has called or showed up. A lot of her clients are at the shop, they were only regulars though she didn't have any appointments but Tay was worried. No one could get in contact with her for the last two days, since I had signed everyone in I volunteered to stop by her place to check on her. She stays around the corner from the shop in a little apartment complex so here I am.
Her ass better answer this door too, unlike everyone else Tou responded to my text messages though I didn't tell anyone. She didn't say what was wrong nor that she was ok, but her response was Not coming.. I didn't like that one bit "Should've known.." she says shaking her head letting me in "Yupp, you should've" I said walking into her living area. Toushai lives alone in a nice two bedroom apartment, her and Blu might as well live together though since he's always here. "What's up with you, and don't tell me nothing cause you didn't go to work yesterday nor today" I say taking a seat.
She sighs and looks at me "I wasn't scheduled for Friday Lani" she say. "So what, you're always at the shop even when you're not scheduled especially on a Friday" I say, she was the only one in the shop that called me Lani like my family. "Maybe I didn't wanna be at the shop Lani, damn" she says sitting back "Okay cool, but you're scheduled today and didn't call or nothing" I say ignoring her attitude "It's barely fucking twelve they will be alright until I get there, damn Kehlani" she rolls her eyes getting up to go to her room "Damn, did I do something to you or something?" I ask following her. "You barging over her asking fifty million questions, getting o my nerves and shit" she mumbles the last part going into her closet.
Remaining silent and in my standing position by the door I wait patiently for her to return from the closet. When she does she is unbuttoning a shirt, snatching it fro her "I don't know what your funking ass attitude is about but this will be the last time I come check up on you Toushai. Your clients and friends at the shop were worried about you and so WAS I but believe me baby girl, it won't happen again" I threw the shirt across the room "Get to the shop, I'll text them you're on the way I am going to lunch" I said walking out. She had me so fucked up and I wasn't tolerating that from her, especially when I was her as a worried friend to check on her. Yeah everyone else is so 'worried' but NOT ONE OF THEM came to see what was wrong they only text, not even call.
"Lani... Lani wait" she says coming out the door, I had made it halfway down the stairs "You good Toushai, I just wanted to make sure you were okay and you are. My job is done" I turn to leave "Keys.. come on man I'm sorry.." she says and I keep walking. "My sister passed away Thursday night, that was who was calling me and I ignored it.. all twenty nine calls" her voice cracks and I run to her "I'm so sorry babes" I hug her forgetting all about our petty argument and my stubbornness "She needed me and I was so busy working I didn't come to her rescue" she cries in my arms "Come on, lets go inside" I walk her back towards her apartment. Texting Tay that I wouldn't be back to work for a little while, she understood and said to take the time I needed and that I could come back and clock out if it got too late.
