It was Saturday and the shop was throwing me a small welcoming party. I have been working here for almost two weeks now "To our newest addition to the family" David says "And the best damn receptionist we've ever had" Tay adds "Besides Toushai" Tou jokes as they make a toast to me "Welcome to the shop Kehlani, and welcome to the Fifth of Ink family" David finishes the toast. "WELCOME!" Everyone cheers throwing back whatever drink they had in their cups.
The shop wasn't packed out, but it was a nice crowd mostly just the artist with their girlfriends or boyfriends if they had one and a few regulars around the shop. We shut the shop down a little early tonight, they had already had everything planned out so when I wen to get something to snack on thinking we were gonna be busy because of the people coming they set up balloons and bottles and shit before I returned. I was shocked and definitely surprised but I am happy they love me and are so welcoming to me.
"Let's take some shots Keys!" Tou came up with a bottle of Hennessy and Blu another artist n the shop comes up to me just as I finish my cup. I don't know how much I've had but it's going down like water and I'm not feeling a thing. "Pour us up!" I say grabbing a few plastic shot cups. After two shots to the head, I made a mix drink of Hennessy and coke with some ice before mingling through the shop. Everyone was having a good time and there was no drama, I thought working in the shop would be like Black Ink or some shit but they didn't even carry that much drama here.
Well Bo, one of the artist has a baby mother that's been up here last week causing unnecessary drama with a client but apparently the trio has history. Other than that the shops has been cool as hell. There is three other girls working here besides me, Tay the co-owner and also a artist, Mia who does the piercings and Coco another artist. Then you have the boys, Blu an artist who works across from Tou, Tou of course since she acts like one of them anyway, Bo, Weezy and David of course.
Monday was pay day, I took home $600 and that's without taxes since were paid in cash. The first thing I did was open an account with USAA banking, I didn't wanna keep that much cash laying around the house. My mom was shocked with my first paycheck, she even joked about me paying some bills but I had already planned to do that since she wouldn't take any money from me when I tried. I know she was only joking but i want to help, even if she doesn't need it anymore.
"I think I'm bout to head out.." I slur to them as we smoke a blunt outside the shop "Yo drunk ass can drive?" Blu jokes making us laugh "Yeah.. y-yeah I'm good" I giggle. Toushai, Blu, Coco and I were all outside the party was dying down "I'll follow her" Coco says since we figured out we stay in the same neighborhood last week when we closed together "If she can even drive" Tou laughs as I fumble with my keys. "Stop laughing at me before I fight you" I joke before burping "You right.. lemme get her a water" Coco says laughing going inside. Tou and Blu began talking but I tuned them out after getting the blunt.
