I was in the library at the school, it was the Friday before winter break, and they'd be out for the next two and a half weeks. They have an assembly this morning so Christina and Jernigan are getting everyone ready.
The assembly will last through lunch, meaning I miss my first three almost four classes since the whole school is to attend. They've just started the announcements to get everyone into the auditorium, so I'm going to make my way back to the studio so I can sit with my class and Christina.
"Good morning everyone" Daniels said into the microphone as classes filed into the auditorium. "Please take your seats quickly" he says and after twenty minutes everything and everyone was settled. The room was attentive and pretty quite, everyone wanting to know what the assembly was for since not even faculty knew.
The principal Mr Daniels walked up to the stage with the mic "Students and faculty, I'm sure you're all wondering why we're all here this morning.." he pauses receiving many responses from the crowd "Ahaha, Well you guys, I'm here this morning to congratulate you... and I'm not just talking about the graduating class either" he says and we were all still confused. The assistant principal walks out holding a huge plaque.
"As of this morning, The Academy is ranked number one in Oakland County school sustem!" He says into the microphone causing the auditorium to erupt in cheers "Yes! Congratulations you've all worked so hard, both students and faculty. Though the board still has some test to review, with finals results in you guys are trumping the other schools" he continues. Before finishing his speech he acknowledges the seniors who are in attendance, it was mostly music and dance majors since they have up coming shows but everyone one else from the graduating class wasn't here.
As a treat, they played a movie and offered popcorn and a soda to all students, faculty and staff. So the entire school spent our morning watching The Lion King and socialising. I ended up moving yo the front with the seniors, shit i was technically apart of the class since I'd be walking with them in June. Tia and Haley had saved me a seat, so I moved during the previews to sit with them. We all talked and goofed around majority of the movie, no one was really watching it and they had the lights dimmed enough so the students could still walk around and stuff.
Really it was just a school social, and by lunch they dismissed the student to either their class or lunch. "Y'all wanna meet up after school?" I ask them as the seniors chill around the auditorium. "Yeah, I'm about to leave now thouvh" Haley says since a lot of them were leaving anyway. "Mhm, I'll be here Lani I got some tech shit" Tia said before we all part ways.
A few senior dance majors came up to me before I left out, they wanted to know what I had planned for class before they just left "I hope y'all stay, but we're not doing anything just a little party and chillin" I tell them and after telling me they were gonna go get lunch and come back I headed to the studio. Christina, Jay and I exchanged gifts this morning I even got Shawl something.
