I turned and stared at the monsters charging towards us.

This is bad.

"I'm going to run..." I rushed past my cousins. I don't have anywhere enough heat to fight and I don't want them to know.

A subway station caught my eye and I headed towards it, hoping to lose either the monsters or Thalia and Nico.

Both would be preferred.

I ran down the steps and barely stopped before I hit the cement wall infront of me.

"Schist." I mumbled spinning around.

Unfortunately Nico and Thalia were running down the stairs.

Ice froze over the top and I sighed. Cam...

"What did you do?!" Thalia yelled at me.

"Nothing, um... do either of you have a lighter?"

"Here." Nico tossed one at me and I nodded my thanks.

This is when I'm super glad I carry crayons and tape.

What? You can use crayons as candles in emergencies so if I tape some together and light them on fire...

The flickering fire cast its light on the three of us.

"Here." I handed it back to him before sitting by the fire.

"Why isn't she trying to kill us?" Nico looked at Thalia.

"Ask her."

"So uh...why aren't you trying to kill us?"

I looked up at him, my blue eyes meeting his dark ones. "Do you want me to?"

"Not really. Why do you do this?" He sat.

"Junior's my friend. We were planning on hanging out at the park today. Didn't know you guys were gonna be performing." A smile tugged at my lips as I stared at the flame, but it quickly fell.

"And that explains why you attack people how?"

I didn't respond, ice coating the area as my hands clenched into fists.

Without another word, Nico shot up, grabbed Thalia and ran into a shadow

If I had any other choice...

I sobbed and wrapped my arms around myself, a wind whipping up and extinguishing the fire.

If I didn't need the heat, if Mom didn't need the heat...

When I'm at camp I try not to hurt anybody, but you have no idea how much that hurts me.

Tears fell down my face, only to freeze before they could drop off.

The only way I could ever get enough heat was...Leo.

I knocked on the door, tapping my feet as the almost comical crashing started.

Eventually it opened and an elvish face smiled at me.

"Heya Percy, whatcha need?"

I frowned and looked away, arms wrapping around myself.

"Can we talk about this in your room?" I mumbled, shuffling my feet.

"Sure, come on in." He moved out of the way and let me in.

I sat on his bed and watched as he pulled a chair over.

"What can the Supersized McShizzle help you with?" He smiled.

I kinda kicked my legs before standing up. "Nevermind it's stupid."

As I went to leave, Leo pushed me backwards. "What's wrong?" His smile had disappeared.

I don't...I don't know if this will work and if it doesn't do I want him to know?

"Percy." He grabbed my hands and I yanked them away.

He stared at me. "Why are you so cold?"

"That's what I wanted to talk to you about. I have trouble maintaining my body heat."

Fire flared up in his hands and he held them out to me.

"Here."

I smiled and put my hands up to the flames. "Thanks."

We sat in comfortable silence for a little while, my body processing the heat.

"I'll vent more heat towards your room. Jason might complain a little bit but Sparky can deal with it." He shook the fire out.

"Uh, thanks Leo. But I'll be fine." I stood up and walked towards the door.

I paused when I felt arms wrap around me.

"I'm going to do it Percy. All I have to do is ask Festus."

"Valdez, why are you hugging me?" I...I don't like this. I could hurt him.

"No idea, you just seem like you need a hug. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to go work on the engine."

Cameron

I sighed and broke the ice I used to protect Percy. I saw the two heroes chase her in here, but those gang members didn't look the happiest.

And for the record, I only followed her because I don't trust her to keep enough heat.

I walked down the steps of the old subway stop, noticing three things.

One, the heroes disappeared. Two, there's ice everywhere. Three, is Percy is passed out on the floor.

"Crap!" I rushed over to her scooping her up into my arms.

I need to get her heat. But...I can't do it myself.

I pulled out my phone and called Frost.

But no one answered.

Sighing, I looked down at Percy, her skin a darker blue than usual.

"It's Cam. I'm with Percy and she needs heat fast. I'm bringing her back home. Please be there."

I shifted her and pressed my lips together. If...If I give her most of my heat, I'll be fine. My DNA is altered for the cold. I'll be fine.

But what's the fastest way to...

Welp.

I pressed my lips to hers before quickly pulling away.

I started shivering almost immediately, but I still have to get her home.

Standing up, I rushed up the stairs and down the street.

Let's hope I don't die because I did this. Percy would never let me hear the end of it.

Huh...

This is crap.

Now if you excuse me

I think I'm gonna take a nap

See yah
