Alexander froze. Not because he was angry. He was surprised. John had been acting a little weird but he didn't know that this was the reason why.  "Ugh. You know what that was stupid question." John said putting his head in his hands. "What? John no. I'm just...shocked that's all." Alex reassured him. John just shook his head.  "Babe I'm not saying I don't want children." Alexander said. John didn't look up. "I....I've always wanted kids. I'd teach them to walk, talk, read, write. They'd call me pops. We may only be eighteen but I can't imagine not having a family with you."  John slowly moved his hands. "You really want kids?" He asked. "More than anything." Alexander confirmed. "I thought you would think I was crazy for asking that." John sighed. "I mean you are crazy. But I'm crazy too." Alex chuckled.  John playfully punched his arm. "Hey! What was that for?" Alexander pouted. "For calling me crazy." John said. "Okay fine I'm the only crazy one." Alexander said.  "You know why?" He asked. John knew it was leading to a terrible joke but he answered anyway. "Why Alexander?"  "Because I'm crazy about you."  "Oh my God."  "Hush you know you love me."  "Eat your spaghetti."  *** John's P.O.V

I leave my phone on our bed and head downstairs. Alexander is in the kitchen making brownies. He's way better at baking than I am. So I leave him to making us dinner and stuff like that.  "What's up homesicle?" He asks. "One, never call me that again, and two the Schuyler sisters are coming over." I tell him. "Did you ask Peggy if she-"  "Would be my surrogate? Yeah." I say finishing his sentence. "Did she accept?" He asks giving me the spoon to lick. Yes, I know I can get salmonella. But I don't care.  "She said she would think about it." I sigh. "Are you nervous?" He questions. "Well, yeah." I say bluntly. I hear a knock at the door and my heart leaps into my throat. "Coming!" I yell. I slide to the door in my socks.  I hear a bit of bickering and I know it's the Schuylers. I open the door and they stop arguing.  "Hi!" Eliza says with a smile. They pull into a hug and I erupt into giggles. I let them inside. "Nice place you got here." Peggy says. "Thanks." I say.  "Lex the Schuylers are here!" I call out. Angelica laughs. "What?" I ask. "Pfft. Lex." She snorts. Alexander pokes his head out if the kitchen. "I've been summoned." He jokes. "Stop baking for a second." I tell him.  "Wait just let me put the brownies in the oven." He says walking away. I shrug and sit down on one of our couches. "So. Babies. Let's talk about those." Peggy starts. I pat the spot next to me and she sits.  "Okay. So I was thinking about the pros and cons of being a surrogate. And surprisingly there aren't as many cons as I thought there would be." She explains.  Alexander joins us and sits on the couch. He wraps his arm around my waist and presses a kiss to my temple.  I see Eliza frown but don't pay much attention to it. "What are the cons?" Alexander asks. "Labor and having to eat on a certain diet. When women are pregonate they can't have caffeine." Peggy states.  Alexander let's out an exaggerated gasp. "No caffeine?!?" He yells. "I know right!" She yells back. Alexander and Peggy don't really have much in common, but they do share this weird obsession with coffee.  "Peggy you'll live if you can't have a latte." Angelica reassures her. "I doubt that. Anyways, I'll be your surrogate John. Who can say no to not having your period for nine months?" She laughs.  I give her the tightest hug I can manage. Alexander follows suit. "Thank you so much Peggy." I whisper. "No prob bob." She smiles. "It's Lapis." Alexander says.  The oven beeps and he jumps up to check on his brownies. "Yes! I didn't burn them!" He shrieks. His voice cracks in the middle of his sentence and Angelica laughs at him. "How old are you? Thirteen?" She mocks. "Shut up Angie." He counters.  "Come on let's get some brownies." I tell Peggy. I notice Eliza is quieter than usual. She would have said something by now. "Liza! Your sister is bullying me!" Alex whines. "You'll live." She says with a small smile.  "You okay?" I ask her. "She nods and heads to the kitchen. I shrug and follow her. I hope she's okay. Eliza isn't one to share her feelings with others. She usually keeps everything to herself.  I hope she's doing alright. "Come on John!" Alexander calls. "Coming!" I yell.
