The Hamilton household and the Laurens household had always had problems. The Hamilton household was loud, rambunctious, and held parties almost every weekend. They lived life on the edge and always took risks. It was they're way of living and they weren't going to change it. The Laurens household was the exact opposite. They were quiet, reserved, and they kept to themselves. If a party was being hosted it was for the richest of the rich. The two households were respected throughout the city and were often seen at social events. But if they were in the same room you could expect all hell to break loose. One night it got to be to much and the Laurens household called out the Hamiltons. "That's it Hamilton! I'm tired of you! This is ending right now!" Henry yelled. "Wow I'm shaking in my boots." James said rolling his eyes. "You've always been jealous of us Hamilton. Well that ends today. What do you want from us? Whatever you want just say the word and we'll give it to you." Henry said calming down. James thought for a second. What would put an end to this petty feud they had? What would finally bring peace to the two families? James smirked and drank from his wine glass. "Marriage." He said smiling. Henry choked on his drink. "James I'm flattered but I'm a married man." He said looking at him in shock. "Not between us you idiot!" James hissed. "Our children will get married. It should stop this fighting we have going on." He said finishing his drink. Henry nodded slowly. He hated to admit it but James had given a smart solution to a stupid problem. "I'm afraid there's just one problem." Henry said. James raised an eyebrow. "What you you mean?" Henry sighed and folded his hands. "My son recently came out. He's gay James. And I don't think he'd be comfortable marrying a woman." Henry explained. He accepted his son for who he was and he didn't want him to be in a relationship he wasn't comfortable with. "That won't be a problem. I have my son. He'll marry John." James said as if that was the easiest solution in the world. "Is your son attracted to men?" Henry asked. "In all honesty I don't know." James said. "Then he won't be comfortable in the relationship. The purpose of this marriage is to bring peace. I don't think your son Alexander would be okay with this." Henry said finishing his drink. "They're only fifteen. We have three years until this happens." James said standing up. Henry showed James out. "James. I'm being serious. Your son had better be okay with this." Henry said before James left our the door. "Make sure your son is okay with this too." James said stepping out the door. The two men shook hands and went their separate ways. *** "John your mother and I have something to tell you." Henry said as his son sat down in the living room. "What's this all about?" John asked. His mother looked a bit angry. And she was never angry. His father looked nervous. And he was never nervous. "Earlier this week James Hamilton can over." Henry said slowly. John rolled his eyes. He never liked the Hamiltons. "And we decided to put an end to our little disagreement." Henry said. "That's great dad. Is that it? I was talking to Francis and I don't want to leave him on read." John said getting up. "Hold on son. You need to know what's coming up in the next three years. It's important." Henry said. John sat back down and folded his arms. He had much more important things to do. Like see if his phone was blowing up because of the group chat he was in. "In order to bring peace to this whole ordeal, you have to get married to one of the Hamiltons." Henry said. Silence. John said nothing. He didn't look upset or even shocked. He showed no emotion. He simply nodded and went back to his room. Eleanor put a hand on Henry's back. "It'll take some time for him to process this." She said. Henry sighed. He hoped Eleanor was right. *** "Alexander! I've got something to tell you! It's important so please hurry!" James called from downstairs. Alexander slid down the railing on the steps meeting his father in the living room. "What's up?" He asked as he plopped down on the couch. "You're getting married." James said bluntly. Alexander laughed. "Good one Pops! I'm only fifteen. I don't even have a girlfriend yet." He said. "Not now. In three years to Henry Laurens' son." James said folding his arms. Alexander raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Um that's cool but why would I get married to another guy?" He asked. James sighed. "Look son, I know this isn't what you want. And I respect that. But I need you to know that this will bring peace to two families who have hated each other for about seventy years. Don't you want to be known as someone who made a big change?" James said trying to get Alex to warm up to the idea. Alexander nodded slowly. "Three years?" He asked. "Three years." His father confirmed. "Okay." Alex said. James smiled. "Thanks Alex." He said bringing his son into a hug. Alexander hugged him back. "No problem Pops."
