Tight Schedule

Gabriel went out for a walk with Lissette that sunny morning to go get a newspaper. The little girl swings their hand in between them with a happy face, “ready to go to school?” Gabriel questions his little daughter and she pouted.

“I don’t want to go…” Lissette trails off, not wanting to meet her dad’s eyes. Gabriel slipped his hand away from his daughter and kneels down to her level.

“Lissette.” Gabriel stares into her beautiful brown orbs uneasily, “you have to listen okay?” He searches her innocent eyes, “your mom is working hard to raise money and feed you. Let’s not make mommy upset okay?” He said softly and Lissette nodded touching Gabriel’s pale cheeks with her tiny finger.

“Daddy?” Her pure voice rang through the silence, “are you pwicking me up aftwa shool?”

“Nanny Niki will okay?” Gabriel dropped her in front of Crystal Crown Elementary. All the kids ran to their classes giggling as the school bell rang. Gabriel waved out to his daughter as she slowly walks inside the gate. Lissette started walking with her pink backpack strap on her back, but then turns back and ran to her dad giving him a big hug.

Anthony sat in his office drinking coffee and relaxing. Then he heard the office door knock and spins her black leather chair around,

“Come in.” Anthony welcomed and his secretary came in.

“We need the blue print to finish this building.” She crosses her long legs over the other and looks at him shyly. Anthony looks down at the map that he has been trying to draw, but nothing comes across his mind.

“Give me two more days.” Anthony sighs trying to wrack his brain for something.

“But, that’s what you said last time.” Kathy took a seat on the chair across from her boss. “Here, let me help you.” She said sweetly, flipping her brown hair with blond highlights curling down to her stomach and Anthony nodded, keeping his eyes glued on the draft.

“Let’s start with the building’s structure.”

Adrian sat in his own office trying to help Anthony figure out what the building looks like and how he would design it. Hours on end of thinking and his stomach starts to grumble. Adrian walks outside to the front to see his employees working hard.

“Lunch time!” Adrian announced and everyone happily jumped up.

“Where should we eat today?” Lindsay played with her straight black hair.

“Anywhere as long as it’s fast. We have a lot to do tonight.” Jenny said pulling her friend out of the office.

“Do you want to go have lunch with us?” Jack asks and Adrian shook his head.

“I’m fine, have fun.” Adrian watched his group of friends hurried outside and downstairs. He walks over to Anthony’s office, ready to go have lunch with his best friend. But as soon as he creaked open the door, he saw Kathy and Anthony laughing and doing their sketches of different buildings. Adrian closed the door, not wanting to interrupt their work. He headed downstairs to a small bakery that he usually goes to. The summer heat rushes inside the small bakery. Every wall was decorated in posters of sweet covering the warm blue walls.

“Hey Adrian.” A girl with straight blond hair tied up smiles at him sweetly. She dries her hand on the apron and went up to the cashing machine, welcoming her old friend. “Two euros por favor.” She puts her palms out facing the ceiling, waiting for the money to be handed over to her.

“You know what I’m going to get?” Adrian smirked and she nodded with her bright red lips curving up, “chocolate brownies with ice cream and coffee right?” Taylor tilts her head to the side.
