You're Back
Lissette shakes Gabriel’s arm waiting for their mom in front of the courthouse that morning, ready for her to come out of. Lissette walks back and forth while Gabriel does the same in the opposite direction. It has been a total of an hour and a half since Aria has been in there.
“Daddy!” Lissette stomps her foot on the ground and Gabriel stands still staring back at her questioningly, “stop walking, you making me tizzy.” She demands making Gabriel laugh. He picks up his impatient little girl and carried her into his arms, cradling her gently from side to side. Soon enough the front door opens and paparazzi’s came out with the lawyers being photographed and question. Aria was standing next to her defendant blocking all questions away from the people. She leads her client into the car, and soon the paparazzi’s scattered away when her client is gone. Gabriel stood to the side protecting Lissette from the pushy crowd. She wraps her arms around her dad’s neck and digs her head into his chest.
Aria walks up to her husband and takes Lissette from Gabriel’s arm, “where are we going to go now?” she smiles at her daughter who was running her tiny fingers through Aria’s hair.
“Where do you want to go baby Liz?” Gabriel kisses his daughter on her soft cheek and then his wife.
“Whereyer mommy and daddy want to go.” Lissette giggles thinking of how lucky she was to spend a day with her parents. Aria laughs at her daughter’s sweetness and Gabriel ruffles her silky hair.
Once they got into the car with everyone all buckled up, Gabriel starts to drive slowly down the highway with Lissette sitting in the back playing her DS and Aria sitting in the front reading her files.
“This case is quite…eh…How should I say it?” Aria rams her head for a word, “complex.” She smiles finally. Gabriel kept his attention on the cars in front of him and nodded his head.
“What is it about?” Gabriel wanted to know what has been troubling his wife.
“It’s just some more assault cases that I have to defend.” Aria answers like it wasn’t bothering her at all. She chooses the people she wants to defend carefully so that she can win and the case and this wasn’t going to be any difficult to defend.
“Daddy? I want to be like you when I grow up.” Lissette broke free of attention from her game and looks up,
“Why, my princess?” A smile crept up to Gabriel’s lips as he hears his daughter’s syrupy voice that matches Aria’s. So sugary and soothing to the ear.
“Because you can dwife.” She responds innocently making Aria awe at her little girl. She was just too naïve and didn’t know how evil the world is. There are plenty things out there that sometimes aria wish she would never know.
“But I never want you to grow up, princess.” He answers at her with a hint of sadness in his tone.
“Why?” Lissette questions her dad,
“I miss being your age, sweetheart.” Gabriel remembers all his childhood memories, being free and wild. A boy who knows nothing and doesn’t care about anything.
“Life is so much simpler and easy. You need to enjoy it.” Aria pitches in with a smile, reminiscing her childhood memories. Rebelling her parents with Jasmine and sneaking into the makeup drawer to do their faces for each other.
“Hmm…” Lissette drums her bottom lip like Aria and then shoots her index finger in the air with a bright toothy smile. “I will never gwo up then.”
15 minutes…
Soon enough they arrived at the park where Lissette runs freely with the wind. She hops into the swings and demands Gabriel to push her from behind. Gabriel gave her a light nudge and she went swinging high in the air. Aria stands in the front taking pictures of her daughter laughing and giggling. The images took came from different angles, then Gabriel and aria switches role and one pushes while the other took pictures. Lissette quickly grew bored of swinging so she takes on the slide and slid down the slippery slops with her arm raise in the blue sky. The little girls shake her mom’s hand so aria can go with her but aria just shakes her head.
