Herman Kozik.
The first time you had heard that name come out of your mother's mouth it was accompanied by a multitude of swear words.
As the years went on you learned that he was your father and that he had left you and your mother ,after he had gotten clean of his addictive drug habits, to join the Marine Corps, then go on to joining a motorcycle club called the Sons of Anarchy.
You had never hated him for what he did considering that your mother was a raging alcoholic with a coke addiction, you would leave her too.
That was why you did.
A week after you turned 17 you took all of the money you have saved up, gone to the train station, and bought a ticket to Charming, California.
You had called the Tacoma charter, where you mom had let slip that he was, only to have the man on the phone tell you that he had transferred to a charter in California.
You then did some reasearch and found that there were 4 charters in California, so you started looking around for news articles in these towns that possibly mentioned your father.
You were just about to give up when you found one that mentioned the Sons of Anarchy Charming charter. It went on to list the names and as soon as you scanned across your father's name you started saving money.
Now here you were, standing in front of the Sons of Anarchy clubhouse/ Teller-Morrow garage, staring directly at the man who created you.
He was working on a car, his back to you, and he'd yet to turn around and see you standing at the gates.
You had a million thoughts running through your head when you decided that you needed to just get him alone and explain to him who you were.
You took a deep breath before slowly making your way up your father and tapping him on the shoulder.
He whipped around, seeming a bit surprised at the motion but when he realised you weren't a threat he visibly relaxed.
"What can I do for ya' sweetheart?"he asked smiling down at you.
It took everything in you to not blurt out who you were right then and there.
"You're Herman Kozik, correct?"
He looked at your curiously before speaking.
"Yeah that's me. What do you need?" he asked wiping his greasy hands and crossing his arms over his chest.
"I actually need to speak with you, privately." you said, your anxiousness almost getting the better of you.
He look very hesitant when he opened his mouth to reply.
"Listen kid, I have work to do. If you're just yankin' my chain-"
"Please. It's important and very urgent."
He sighed and shook his head before walking towards the clubhouse and motioning for you to follow.
You did but your anxiety got worse with every step.
What if he didn't want you? What if he sent you back to your mother? All you had were the clothes on your back and a few small objects you brought from home including a picture of your father holding you as a baby. If he decided to send you away you would probably have to hitchhike.
Things like these ran through your head as he took a seat on one of the picnic tables out front of the clubhouse.
"What's so urgent?" he said as he pulled out a cigarette and lit it.
You took a seat across from him and took a deep breath before pulling out the picture of you two.
You unfolded it and placed it on the table, then sliding it across to rest in front of him.
"Do you remember Shelby Fox?" you asked sheepishly as he picked up the picture and studied it.
"Where did you get this?" he asked, sounding a bit sorrowful and ignoring your question completely.
"From my mother." you said watching as his eyes slowly came up to meet yours.
"No, that can't be. Why would Shelby give you this unless-" he broke off, his eyes going wide.
"(y/n)?" he questioned sounding awestruck.
You nodded happily, tears of joy springing to your eyes as he dropped the picture and ran around the picnic table, lifting you up and engulfing you in a hug.
"(y/n), oh I'm so happy to see you."he said squeezing you even tighter.
"I'm happy to see you too, or meet you, i guess." you said, giving a watery laugh as he released you.
"How did you find out about me?" he asked sitting down on the same side of the picnic table pulling you down to sit next to him.
"Mom accidentally let your name slip while she was drunk one night." you said looking down, suddenly feeling sheepish.
"Does she still have the alcohol problem?" he asked sounding full of sadness.
"Yeah. Between that and her coke addiction I'm honestly surprised she was around long enough to raise me. That's why I ran away, I couldn't take it anymore."
You heard his sigh and you turned to meet his eyes.
"(y/n), i'm really sorry you had to go through that. You don't know how many times I wanted to just come and take you away but after she threatened me with the restraining order-"
"Wait what?"
Your mother had told you that your dad had left because he couldn't handle the responsibility of being a father.
"Mom told me that you left because you said you couldn't handle being a dad."
He shook his head and looked at you like you were crazy.
"(y/n), I would never leave you by choice. Ever since that first day when I held you in the hospital all I ever wanted to do was be around you, but your mom got so out of control that she started to threaten me with restraining orders. She had started getting really jealous of the neighbor lady and swore up and down that I was sleeping with her." he said causing you to chuckle.
"Yeah well that's mom for you, bat shit crazy."
You two sat in silence for a moment before he spoke again.
"Does she know you're here?"
"No. I left while she was passed out and don't worry about her coming after us or anything, i'm emancipated. I mean that is if you want me to stay."
You started to get nervous again. Yes, he was happy to see you but maybe he didn't want you around.
"(y/n) of course I want you to stay, you're my little girl." he said kissing you on the temple.
It was then that a group of very intimidating looking bikers pulled into the lot and started parking their bikes in a line.
Your dad smiled at you and then stood up and held his hand out for you to take.
"C'mon sweetheart, it's time for you to go meet your new family."
You smiled and took your father's hand, standing up and walking to the group of bikers that were now staring at the two of you.
You didn't know what your new life would consist of, but what you did know was that you were ready for whatever it threw at you.
