You took a deep breath of the warm summer air as you sped down the highway on your 72' Sportster.
You were finally returning to Charming after leaving a couple of years ago. When you left you were a very timid person who was scared of her own shadow so when Gemma told you that Chibs wasn't really in love with you, you fled town, running from your problems like you always used to.
You weren't that person anymore though, after spending a couple years on your own, working shady jobs to put food in your mouth and gas in your bike, you had become someone who you were proud to be.
You had become a woman who could handle herself quite well and would take anyone's shit. It was amazing what a couple brushes with death could do for someone.
A few weeks ago you started to feel homesick so you got on your bike and made the trip all the way from Florida back to your home state of California.
There was no doubt in your mind that you would have a few awkward run ins with the club but those were things that you would just have to deal with, you had already left this town once and nobody was going to scare you out of it again.
You pulled into town about 20 minutes later and went straight to your best friend Wendy's place.
You and her had gotten close after she had found out you left town because of what Gemma had said. Being a victim of Gemma's cruelty herself, she felt bad for you.
Ever since then you two had become very good friends and when you told her you were returning to town she immediately invited you to stay with her until you got your own place.
As you got off of your bike and went to knock on the door you heard yelling and then you saw Jax emerge from her apartment.
You tried to hide but he had already seen you.
'Well I guess one of those awkward run ins is going to happen sooner than I thought.'
"(y/n)?" he said walking closer to you.
You saw Wendy appear in the doorway of her apartment opening her mouth to say something but you assured her that you were fine with a wave of your hand.
"Hey Jax." you said as he pulled you into a hug.
"Where have you been there past two years?" he said pulling away.
"Well after your mother told me that I was basically around the club because of pity I left town and got my shit together. I'm back for good now and I'm staying with Wendy until I get my own place." you told him.
You were a little taken aback by the surprised look on his face.
"My mother did what?" he asked sounding genuinely surprised.
Anger flared up inside of you. Why was he pretending not to know what you were talking about?
"She told me the truth Jax. That Chibs didn't really love me and that I wasn't really part of the family. I was really upset about it but you know what Jax? I don't care anymore. I don't need your club's pity and I sure as hell don't need Chibs's." you said unlatching your duffel from where you had i tied down on the back of your bike.
"(y/n) I-" he started to say.
"Jax I have had a really long ride and I just want to eat some food and start looking for an apartment. It's been lovely seeing you again but I have to go." you said walking away before he could get another word in.
You heard his bike start up and drive away as you climbed the stairs to your best friend's apartment.
"Hey sweetie." she said enveloping you in a hug.
"Hey there hot stuff." You said squeezing her back before she pulled you into the house and shut the door.
******Time Skip******
After you had showered and eaten Wendy had to go to work so you decided to go for a ride around town and see what had changed in the past two years.
You were riding down around near the clubhouse when your bike started to sputter and then eventually died.
Luckily you weren't on a very busy street so you just pushed it over to the side of the road and put down the kickstand.
You pulled your phone out of your pocket and pressed the power button, only for the screen to stay black.
Well wasn't this just great? Your phone was dead, your bike wouldn't start, and the closest place was freaking Teller-Morrow. Sometimes you swore that the universe hated you.
You knew that your only option was to walk the couple of blocks to TM and hopefully convince one of the boys to pick up your pike and give you a ride home.
You sighed and pulled off your helmet, hanging it on the handlebars, before setting off in the direction of TM.
This was a pretty good neighborhood so you didn't have too many worries about your bike getting stolen.
After about 10 minutes of walking you arrived at the gates of TM.
You saw the clubhouse to your left and immediately felt a sense of nostalgia, you hated to admit it but you missed this place, you missed these boys, and you missed Chibs.
You took a deep breath, readying yourself for what might be coming, before you walked through the gates.
You kept your shoulders squared and your gaze set on the office door.
You were so far successful in avoiding the boys and you were about to open the office door when it swung open to reveal the last person you wanted to see.
"(y/n)." Chibs gasped.
You heart leaped in your chest as you looked into those gorgeous brown eyes that you had come to love a few years ago.
You wanted so badly just to throw yourself into his arms and kiss him like there was no tomorrow but you had to remind yourself that he didn't love you.
Hello Fillip." you said trying to keep your composure.
"What's the matter Chibs?" you heard Gemma say from inside the office.
Seconds later you heard the click of her heels before she stuck her head around Chibs's staring form.
"Son of a bitch, what the hell do you want?" she asked giving you a venomous look.
"My bike broke down a couple blocks from her and I need someone to tow it to where i'm staying at." you said looking anywhere but Chibs.
She opened her mouth to speak but before she could Chibs spoke.
"I'll give ya a ride. Meet me in the truck in 5." he said before pulling Gemma into the office and shutting the door.
It took a minute for you to register that you would have to spend even more time with Chibs, but when it hit you you could do nothing more but groan and reluctantly make your way to the truck.
A few minutes later Chibs exited the office and walked over to the truck, getting in and starting it before pulling out of the lot.
The ride was silent except for you occasionally throwing out directions until you reached the place where your bike was parked.
Once he pulled the truck over you both got out and got to work at putting it onto the back of the truck.
"What happened to the bike you were riding while we were together?" he asked as he ratchet strapped your bike down.
"I scrapped it after I left." you said trying to keep the conversation blunt.
"You mean after you ran." he said a hint of bitterness to his tone.
"Can we not do this right now?" you hissed through clenched teeth.
"Yeah whatever. Where are you staying?" he asked getting into the truck and slamming the door, not even giving you a chance to answer.
You took a deep breath and tried to calm your temper before you got into the truck and started to direct him to Wendy's house.
When you pulled up to the apartment he gave you a look and said, "Oh don't tell me that you're staying with the junkie-whore."
It was then your turn to get out of the truck and slam the door as he follows.
"For your information, she's sober now, and besides what do you care, it's not like we're together anymore." you say, violently unstrapping your bike as Chibs walked over to the passenger side where you were and tried to help.
You weren't getting a good angle from the ground so you got on the back of the flatbed and proceeded to undo one of the straps.
This would prove to be an almost fatal mistake in the events that would soon proceed.
You were just about to reach over and start undoing the other strap when a blue Impala sped around the corner of the street, you thinking nothing of it continued to unstrap your bike.
That was until they whipped out a gun and started spraying bullets everywhere, you being unfortunate enough to catch one in the shoulder.
The force of the bullet going through your shoulder sent you flying off the side of the flatbed onto the grass below, Chibs dropping down next to you throwing his body over yours.
When the shooting stopped and Chibs saw all of the blood he started to freak out.
"(y/n)! Ah shit darlin', are you hit anywhere else" he asked putting pressure on your shoulder as he checked the rest of your body.
"No, just my shoulder. Shit Chibs, it hurts." you said placing your hand over Chibs's as he pulled you up and got you in the truck.
"I know lass, we're gonna get you fixed up alright, just hold on." he said buckling your seatbelt for you and running around to the drivers side, getting in and taking off back to the clubhouse.
"Here sweetheart, put this on it." he said handing you a rag from the floor.
You'd never seen Chibs panic like this before and quite frankly it scared the crap out of you.
Soon he was pulling into the lot and skidding to a halt, running around to your side and helping you out before guiding you into the clubhouse.
"What the hell?!"you heard Jax say as soon you and Chibs entered the clubhouse.
"I was takin' her home when a couple of bastards drove by and started sprayin' bullets, one went through her shoulder."he explained. "Sit here why I go get the stuff." he said leaving you at the pool table.
You looked up and were met with the shocked expressions of your old friends.
"Hey guys." you said waving at them with your now bloody hand.
"Everyone out, I need to focus." Chibs said as he came back in with his supplies.
The clubhouse cleared out except for Chibs who got to work disinfecting and stitching you up, apologizing every time you winced.
After about 15 minutes he had both your enter and exit wound stitched up and was wrapping a bandage around your wound.
"Jax told me what you said." he said, his voice shocking you out of your daze.
"And what did I say?"
He took off his glasses that he had put on before starting to stitch you up and rubbed the space above his left eyebrow, a sign that meant he was getting frustrated.
"He said you didn't think that I really loved you those years ago, that you weren't part of the family." he said taking a deep breath before his voice dropped a couple octaves and his accent became thicker. "And that Gemma was the one who told you all of these things."
You nodded your head.
"That's why I left. I couldn't help but feeling like you guys only kept me around because you felt bad for me and when Gemma confirmed my suspicions I couldn't take it and I left." you said wiping the mist from your eyes.
You got up and tried to walk away but he grabbed your wrist lightly.
"(y/n), what Gemma told you was a lie." he said coming to stand in front of you and resting his hand on your cheek. "You leaving was one of the hardest things i've ever had to go through. I missed you every single day." he said staring you deep in the eyes.
"I'm sorry, I -"
"I know, you didn't want to stick around somewhere you didn't think you were wanted, I understand. I also need you to understand that I still love you." he said leaning in and landing a kiss to your lips.
You knew that you wanted this but you had no idea how much you body craved Chibs.
Your fingers tangled in his hair as his hands found their way to your waist.
" You aren't going anywhere ever again." he said in between kisses.
You shook your head, "No way baby. I'm all yours."
He gave a small growl and picked you up before carrying you off to his dorm.
