When I returned to my uncle, he was not in the least bit happy for what I did. It's not like I cared either way, around here, if you made a deal everyone kept to their word. And seeing that I used this to my advantage angered my uncle, and as such he'd train me until I was half dead. His way of seeing me as human was skewed from what the definition of being human was. He only saw me as a strong tool to use for the inevitable war between humans and the creatures of the forest. I decided to tell Kenny how I felt about them and his way of seeing things.
" Kenny, why is it that we have to fight those creatures? What did they do for us to default to war?"
" Those creatures have no business here as they pose a threat to our whole operation finding and creating a new world for humanity to survive. Unless you don't want that to happen..."
" That's not what I'm implying, I'm simply asking why don't we form some kind of treaty with them, some kind of compromise. So that humanity remains as it is and the creatures can do as they please without having to feel cornered."
I could tell that Kenny wasn't pleased to hear me speak of them as our equals, but to tell the truth they were our equals. They deserved to be given a chance to be heard instead of being forced into something that they want no part of. Kenny sighed and turned towards the huge window that overlooked the platform and a huge portion of the forest.
" You're so much like you're mother, Kuchel. She was against the whole idea of war with them creatures, but in the end she wound up dead before she even saw it coming." He turned to face me once again and what he told me was shocking, " Levi my boy, if ya want to learn about these creatures then I won't stop ya. Just know you'll be expecting far more training every time ya come back, and I'll be expecting some intel."
" Whatever you say old man." I stood tall, or tried to, and saluted.
When I left my uncle's office I broke into a run for my living quarters to gather a small bag that had my survival tools. If I was going to get anything from them I needed to look as passive as I could, no big weapons or anything. After I got my bag from my quarters I searched in it to make sure I had everything, and realized one thing was missing. Her picture. I looked under my pillow and was relieved that the picture was where I left it last. The only thing I, and Kenny, have left of my mother is this one picture. I had stolen it from my uncle as I don't remember what she looked like if I didn't have this picture. When I put the picture in my small bag I left my living quarters for the platform.
When I reached the platform I ran into the four members of my new team I had beaten from about twenty minutes ago. They were probably pissed that I made them look like fools, but they've got themselves to blame for their lack of strength. If they were to fight against one of those creatures they wouldn't last. But that's from hearing Kenny. I didn't want to bother with them so I quickly ran to the front gate and slipped under a loose corner of the chain link fence and ran into the forest. I've heard many stories from my uncle and from my superiors of their encounters with the creatures in this forest. Many say that their strength is what killed off their entire team and they were the only ones to live. I think they're all garbage and went running with their tails between their legs, but I haven't been on the field yet so I don't get to have a say in the matter yet.
I'd been wandering the forest, following the trails left by deceased comrades, for about thirty minutes and I hadn't come across anything. However, I could hear the beating of drums and the melodies of music in the distance, but I didn't want to rush there so I decided to take a break and rest by a water spring. Even though there are alien creatures on this planet, every living thing breathes oxygen just like us, meaning this planet was just like Earth. But there were some complications, such as the amount of time you could spend outside. The oxygen is breathable but it's on the weak side, so one could only stay outside without a mask for approximately one hour before passing out. If one passed out and were still outside for more than an hour the possibilities of receiving a small amount of poisoning was very high. Any longer than three hours to exposure of the oxygen and one could die from the poisoning. All the plants and water weren't affected though so the only complications were the air and animals. Water and vegetation were of consumable levels.
Though we know this much there is still a lot more we need to learn from the creatures that rule this planet. I was growing thirsty so I cupped my hands and started to drink from the water spring, but as I was doing so I heard a snap in the distance. I stopped what I was doing and quickly went into what I called my own stealth mode. I listened carefully and heard the snapping of twigs and the crunching of leaves, as I was in the open I quickly hid behind a tree close by. The snapping and crunching was about where I was by the spring and they had stopped. I wanted to know what was there so I carefully took a peak from the tree I was hiding behind. When I saw what it was there my eyes went wide, it saw me. I could hear it walking towards the tree and the pressure got to me, I opened my mouth and spoke to it without wondering if it could speak English.
" Stay where you are! Or else!"
However my doubts and questions were soon proven wrong and answered.
" Or else what? Do you know what I could do to you? It'd be as easy as snapping a twig under my feet."
I stepped out of hiding with out thinking and was awestruck, it was one of them. One of the creatures, and it was the same one I saw earlier today. Those eyes filled with hatred that covered the sorrow and misery they, no, he felt.
" You're coming with me, human."
AN: Here's chapter two, all this chapter is in Levi's POV if you didn't pick up on that. For this story I'm going to switch between Levi and Eren's POVs so when it switches I'll put the divider. If I switch it at the beginning of the next chapter I'll either tell you here (the AN before the next chapter) or put a AN at the beginning of the chapter the POV switches on. Got it? Idk if you did but okay. Hope you enjoyed this chapter and I'll see you in the next one!!!
