Shade Part 7: 7 Stages

I came to a dazed awakening in a hospital bed.

Two things I instantly realized was that I could feel and move my arms, torso, and head.

The other was that I couldnt feel below my waist.

As I recollected my astranged memories I came to a terrifying thought...

I was shot in the spine...

Just then the door to my hospital room opened and a Docter walked in

Docter: Conner. I see you have awakened.

I was scared...

Me: Docter... Whats happening to me?

He sighed in defeat.

Docter: You were shot in the lower spine...

Me: Does that mean...?

He gulped

Docter: You are completely paralyzed waist down.

He stopped to think about his next words

Docter: And you may only have one week to live...

At that moment, everything I ever did came back to me in a flash

I regretted it all

I shouldve talked to my mother more...

I shouldve told my sister I love her, even if it was one final time...

I shouldve hung out with Adrian more...

I should've taught my little sisters more...

I should've trained with my Dad more...

I shouldve talked to Angel more when I was in Menagerie...

All the while that I thought about what I should've done, the docter stared at me.

Docter: Though there is a chance that you'll survive...

Me: Will I ever be able to walk again?

Docter: No...

I started to panic.

I couldn't be a Huntsman

I might die

Im only eighteen, I'm too young to die!

Even if I didn't , I'd be stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of my miserable existance.

I started to beg

Me: Docter... PLEASE! There must be some way! THERE HAS TO BE!

I was starting to get angry

Me: PLEASE!? HELP ME! ILL DO ANYTHING!

I started to sob

Me: Please... Ill do anything... help me...

The Docter starred at me sadly

Docter: A friend of yours wants to see you.

With that he walked out and Zayne walked in after him.

I felt a wave of sadness roll over me

Me: Hey...

Zayne: Conner? I'm...

Me: Dont be sorry. This is my fault.

I looked over my life in flashes

Every smile...

Every laugh...

Every frown...

Every sob...

All of it...

All for nothing...
