[F/n] quickly wedged herself between the dangerous line, spreading her arms wide as if to protect Chaz and facing Nicolai with a grave countenance. "Stop this, I won't allow any more death in front of my eyes, Nicolai," she spoke, her voice deep and serious.
The earnest determination in her voice caught Nicolai off guard, his heart skipping a beat at her act to interrupt. "You don't understand anything about the Country," he argued, narrowing his eyes at her and removing the ring from his hand. It materialized to a silver gun, in which he carelessly dangled it in his index finger. "He broke the law more than once." His icy blue eyes looked angrily at Chaz. "I'll spare you the disturbing details."
"He's been with me since I came here, and you only decide to arrest him now?" She questioned, her heart beating wildly as she contemplated again about her stupid decision to interject.
Chaz chortled, slicing the ground with the tip of his sword and slightly leaning to its thick hilt, his face twisted to amusement. "[F/n], it's alright," he confessed, garnering her attention. "I admit that I did some pretty awful things so I deserve to be arrested. You shouldn't dirty yourself and step in for me."
Offended by his statement, she felt irritated by his nonchalance. "I don't really know you, don't I?"
Shrugging his shoulder, he threw his hat to her, in which she caught delicately. "Go and collect Letor's heart. It's buried in the very intersection of the carpets," he informed, flashing her a grin. When she didn't move, he raised he sword and slashed it horizontally across her chest.
Her shirt opened up, revealing a slight peek on her bra and cleavage. Covering her chest, [F/n] distanced herself in alarm, eyes wide in surprise. She heard Nicolai commanding the men to fire as she was roughly pulled back. As she staggered backward, she could only watch from a helpless perspective when Nicolai sent the signal to shoot.
Bang!
Numerous bullets shot through the air, piercing the peace as the noisy current of the river joined in the ruckus.
She covered her ears and ran away from the scene, clutching Chaz's top hat close to her chest and wearing his suit jacket. 'I don't know anymore...' Without even casting a glance behind her, she dashed through the forest and left the place. Her lungs and heart kept up with her legs as she panted, her mind unclear. But she knew what she has to do: she has to complete her requirements.
As much as it pained her to leave Chaz and let Nicolai reign havoc again, she was mortified to witness another death. Her hands trembled when she remembered Abbey's dead blue eyes staring at her and Amos' laughter when he faded to sand... if she was to see Chaz or Nicolai wasting away, she won't be able to bear it.
In the corner of her eye, she caught sight of a glowing creature running up to her. Slightly turning to see what it was, it was the Marcel. She was captured by its beauty and was able to hear his voice.
'Where are you headed to, [F/n]?' He asked, his voice sounding so serene.
She could still hear gunshots from afar, her mind unclear. "Follow me!" She shouted to the Marcel as she ducked a low branch that was about to slap her.
After an adrenaline-provoking race, [F/n] and the Marcel made it to the very intersection of the carpets, where the colors green, red, yellow, and blue meet. It was the location that Chaz had mentioned, but [F/n] was uncertain how to retrieve it. He said that it was buried deep inside the intersection, so that means she needed tools to do the job.
