The trees stood tall and sturdy. It was a slightly cold day, leaving [F/n] shivering as she found her way out of the woods. Over the sound of scrunching dead leaves, she could hear the murmurs of voices. She stopped on her tracks, figuring that people may be nearby.
If so, [F/n] had an odd perception to be careful. But because she doesn't know what's going on with the voices, she trudged closer to the sources, which seemed to be everywhere. Just as she was about to, she was startled by someone from behind.
"There you are."
She twisted her neck to see who it was, while simultaneously distancing herself from the person.
"Sorry to scare you," he apologized, showcasing a smile.
"Since when were you there?" [F/n] interrogated.
He ruffled the hair on the back of his head, looking sheepish. "I just caught up. Marcel could be wandering around and bother you."
[F/n] looked ahead and continued onwards. "I heard voices not far from here," she voiced out, her ears sensitive to the sound of the soft wind and the rickety trunks of the dancing trees.
Chaz followed her and easily matched her pace. "It wasn't Marcel's voice, was it?"
"No, not at all."
They sauntered out of the woods, unaware of the guards in yellow uniform who lingered around in secret. As Chaz conversed with [F/n], he caught a quick move of something from the corner of his eye. He stretched his arm out to stop her from going farther.
"What's wrong?" She inquired worriedly as she looked up at him.
The serious look on his face was replaced with a reassuring smile. "I feel like we're being spied on," he murmured in a low volume, assessing their surroundings. Encircled with trees, Chaz deduced that someone, or a group, could be waiting to attack them anytime. But it wasn't easy to miss the bright colors of yellow that sneaked behind the trunks.
Alarmed, [F/n] looked around as well, frozen on the spot. She stepped closer to Chaz, feeling his body temperature radiating off from him. "Are they enemies or something?"
"Nowhere close," he answered, his hand touching the small of her back. With his eyes on their settings, he whispered close to her ear. "Casually, let's keep walking until we reach the green carpet. And if I tell you to run to the bridge, run." When her lips parted to speak, he gently placed his index finger across it to silence her. "No questions and just do as I say, okay?"
Wanting to be informed of his suspicion towards their circumstance, [F/n] reluctantly agreed and nodded her head.
"Good girl. Now let's go." He pushed her forward, ogling at the tree close by that hid a broad-shouldered man in his yellow uniform. Briskly, they emerged out from the woods and stepped on the green carpet that led to the bridge.
Bang!
A sudden rush of a bullet was shot above Chaz's shoulder, slightly singing the fabric of his suit. [F/n] shrieked in fright and ducked to the ground, her arms over her head.
"Men, surround the target!" Ade boomed as he jumped over the shrub that had concealed him, his gun pointed at Chaz.
Men in yellow stepped out from behind trees and thick bushes, their firearms directed to the said target.
Slowly, Chaz raised his hands and brushed past [F/n]'s hair. When she peered up, he stared her down with a smile. "Run."
Instantly, she bolted out of the scene. Two men blocked her path, but she bulldozed her way through, pushing them aside with surprising strength. They fell to the ground, giving her time to flee.
