After given the choices of either staying with him or escaping without Ade, [F/n] couldn't give an answer. It was too cruel to leave Ade alone but too careless to stay with Chaz either. Undecided, she kept quiet.

Chaz raised his eyebrows at her, waiting for her response. "Perhaps I can help you decide," Chaz said, pulling her away from the wall and out of the room.

Quietly, she followed him out and they wandered into long corridors, past portraits, and empty halls until they arrived in front of an office. Chaz let her in, and she reluctantly did so. Inside the office was a mess of papers. The desk was turned over; the shelves were flat on the ground; and on the lone chair that stood among the mess, Ade sat.

He was as miserable as the room, hair sticking out everywhere, eyes dilated; he looked so lost and neglected.

However, when [F/n] stepped in, his pupils constricted at the sight of her. It was as if a sudden light has entered the dark tunnel that imprisoned him, making him move an arm. He felt a rush of emotions when she stopped right before him, all for his sight to take in.

"I'll come back," Chaz spoke up, snatching Ade's attention as the door closed. "When I return, you should have decided."

[F/n] turned to him, and back to Ade. Just as she faced the blond, she was engulfed in a suffocating embrace. Some of his hair slapped the corner of her eye, making her close them. His arms enveloped her entire figure like she was meant to be in his arms.

"I missed you," he whispered longingly, his voice filled with so much misery that clenched her heart. He hugged her for a while before letting go and cheking to see if she wasn't wounded or hurt in any way. "No one touched you, right? You're not hurt? H-he didn't threaten you?"

"I'm okay, Ade," she reassured, smiling at him. He seemed so unhinged with the way he was shaking and flinching. His eyes were wildly aware of her physical presence that he seemed to notice her uneasiness.

"Good, good. I've been waiting. Waiting... Caesar and the entire Supreme Court escaped, but he is heavily injured. D-don't worry, [F/n]." He touched her hair, finger trembling as he patted her head with a shaky smile. "Tonight, we'll escape."

Relieved to hear the news, she felt a shine of hope warm up her heart. "How do you know?"

Leaning down to her, he lowered his voice. "Leroy has been sneaking behind the walls and delivering the messages to me. Caesar and the others are waiting for us."

"But how are we going to escape? Chaz will come back soon..."

At this, Ade smiled with confidence and held her shoulder. "If he will not come back, then what Leroy said is true. Chaz will be dealing with Caesar's men. They'll create a distraction for us to escape." While he told her this details, there was a feeling of peace in him as she kept her worried eyes on him, yet all he cared for was her attention. "After this, we'll go straight to Lyrah and have Annette back. We'll go through this."

Never had she felt so touched. She didn't realize how much he's been thinking about her all this time. To repay his selfless act, she mumbled a heartfelt "thank you" through tears.

When night arrived, an uproar of shotguns and shouts disturbed [F/n]. Ade remained calm and snaked an arm around her shoulders, reassuring her that this was Caesar's work and that all will go well.

Soon, a knock came on the door, making them feel uneasy.

Carefully, Ade checked on the person, only to find out that it was the dwarfish man, Leroy. The Cabinet Secretary smiled sheepishly. "Sir, let's go," he said.
