Chapter 25:I Caught You

Via's POV

You know how those advertisements on television showcase how people wake up with a smile on their face stretching and getting out of bed seemed like no challenge at all? That in reality they don't even look as close to those? Well, for today, just today, I woke up in an advertisement-typed manner.

Thanksgiving was over about a few days ago. Today felt like a good day. The weather was still chilly and it had just turned December, which meant Christmas was right around the corner. I woke up today at about nine o'clock with a smile on my face because I had slept well, and I just had a good feeling about the present.

Mackenzie and I had already planned out this day. After breakfast we'd go to the skating rink and have fun like any normal person would and maybe pass by Starbucks, get a cup or two before going back home later in the day.

I looked over to the bed adjacent to mine and it was empty already.

Typical Mackenzie.

"Mackenzie, are you in the shower?" I called from outside.

"Yeah, I am." She replied loudly enough for me to hear.

"Kay-kay, I'll see what's for breakfast." I got out of my bedroom and locked the door from behind. Mackenzie tends to dress in the bedroom instead of the closet, (which I prefer), and I can't afford for her to have someone walk in on her naked, and need I mention, especially Austin?

Just as I was about to go down the stairs, the smell of pancakes enveloped the area, and to my pleasure, I was right. About a dozen freshly made pancakes were on the table and beside it was good old maple syrup.

Scrumptious.

"Staring blankly and licking your lips is in no way gonna feed you. Get your ass down here and eat with us." Dustin ordered. I shifted my vision from the food to shoot him a scowl.

Morning ruined.

"Whatever." I bit back before taking a seat and taking three pancakes, flooding each with maple syrup, and then eating, or better yet, gorging on them.

Just as I had finished my first pancake, I heard Mackenzie's footsteps come down rapidly from the stairs. I quickly looked over to Aussie who seemed to have stopped eating and get up from his seat.

I gripped his arm in the nick of time and with a look of superiority I said, "sit."

"But Via..." He tried with a pleading look.

I didn't budge so I cut him off hurriedly, "No."

"Via I gotta..." Too late.

"Hey guys, what's for breakfast?" She said being her usual merry self.

"Pancakes, c'mon take a seat." I told her patting the chair that happened to be right next to Austin.

Mackenzie shot me a, 'what-the-hell-are-you-even-thinking?!' type of expression, while Austin was just staring at nothing in front of him with a flat expression.

"Come on now, " I singsonged, "we don't want the pancakes to get cold don't we?"

Mackenzie pressed her lips into a thin line, glared at me and shrugged awkwardly before reluctantly taking a seat. Perfect.

"Dustin... get out." I demanded in a very stern voice.

"Via, I'm not yet even done..." Dustin protested trailing off.
