Chapter 20: Adiós España {continuation of Days 1-5}
Via's POV
Day 1: {continuation....}
So basically, the day went by quickly after my little chat with mom. I had my nap and when I did wake, I had my share of the dinner which means I slept for a pretty decent amount of time.
Exchange was minimum over the table. Mom barely moved her food. Dustin skipped dinner and so Austin and I were left hanging like a bunch of imbeciles.At first, the silence was the so awkward and uncomfortable, it was as if the air was swallowing me into a thick cloud of syrup. We could've started conversing, but mom was there and talking about her or about dad in front of her would be rude and insulting so instead, we started playing the footsies like retards.
Yep, that's how the Stellar siblings do it.
Lucky for us, she gave upon her food and went to her room. Mom just made some lame excuse on why and left. And so, the conversation sparked with one of my twin bros.
"¿Qué te pasa ahora?" (What's the matter this time?)" He inquired with just the right amount of concern.
I sighed weightily and stopped eating for a moment.
My lips parted to tell him, but just in the nick of time, my mind recollected fast enough to hold back on what I was about to say. I reminded myself of what may happen if I spill the beans all too rashly. That's when I figured I'd say it indirectly and exclude most of the unnecessary details along the way.
So, I started off by saying a mouthful so quickly, it sounded as if it was only one sentence.
"It's just, something came up, but I can't tell you that yet because if I do, it would be as if I just threw a live grenade into the entire vacation, and we only have four more days to stay here, so I wouldn't want that, but then again, if I don't tell you, then we wouldn't be able to confront the problem, and it's been ticking me off for years already..." then I stopped for a distinct moment when I saw Austin raise his hand as if he wanted to say something.
"Go ahead." I said.
"You spoke to Luke again, isn't it?" He spoke with no emotion at all.
"How did you?" I couldn't even finish my sentence from stammering too much and so it sounded more like, "Ha-dee-yu?" or basically, not different to the sound of a bad case of hiccups
"I know. I heard earlier. I know I shouldn't have eavesdropped, but I heard it all. I wanted to beat the crap out of him there, but I didn't otherwise." He explained further, rubbing his palms that were now all shaky.
"Why didn't you?" I questioned further.
"Why didn't I what?" He asked, still trying his best to stop his hands from shaking. It was getting pretty bad.
"W-why didn't you... why didn't you beat him?" I stammered on my words, looking at my brother who seemed like he was about to break.
With a nervous soft chuckle, he looked at me and said, "That's because, first of all, I'm not in the best shape am I?"
We both shared weird nervous laughs, and shook our heads. I knew he tried to make it sound funny and all, but it was still half-meant. I knew Aussie all my life and he hated it when the sketchy subject of his confidence.
"And," he cut my thoughts, "I didn't need to beat him up. Not when I've got a feisty little sister like you." He told me, messing with hair like good old times.
