Chapter 16: Texts, Calls, Misunderstandings and Ships

Via's POV

"Good job, darlings. You have ten days left 'till sectionals. Make me proud." Miss Mercedez cooed to us.

"Sure will." We assured her, smiling.

"Well that's just great. So happy to have you, girls." She returned the smile, before dismissing us to return back to our classes.

Yay! That meant lunch for me.

"Hey Brits!" I greeted them cheerfully when they approached our lunch table.

"Hey Via, how's it going?" Princess was the first one who acknowledged my presence.

"Nothing. I'm nervous for sectionals, honestly." I sighed, sitting next to Cameron. The others greeted me as well.

"I'm dead chuffed about it!" Anne said.

"Chuffed?" I questioned.

"Pleased." Cameron clarified.

"Man, I seriously got to take up British 101 if I'm going to hang around with you guys more." I told them, bringing out my lunch.

"Nah, not really. You're an amazing friend. Funny, nice, friendly, understanding... Well, I'd rather not complete the list of all your great traits, but needless to say, you can hang out with us all the time." Zack told me, and I was seemingly warmed in the heart to hear that.

"Awwwwww, thank you." I pinched his right cheek. He slapped my hands away, and rubbed his cheek.

"Pleasure's mine." He replied, taking a sip of his diet coke.

I noticed Cameron was unusually quiet. He only spoke up when he greeted me and told me what chuffed meant.

And that even before I came, the three- Anne, Princess and Zack sat together on one side of the table, while Cameron being the only one on the other.

Keen observer skills come in handy every now and then.

"You alright?" I whispered over to him, while the other three weren't looking.

"Not really." Cameron replied with a frown.

I took out my phone and began, from under the table, to text him so that the other three, who were just across us, wouldn't suspect anything.

"What's the matter? ): Just text back because it's awkward having them right in front of us... x." I sent that to him. Somehow, I got used to typing everything with proper punctuations and with complete letters.

And although I know 'x' means kiss, I end all my texts with it.

Be it a reply to my mom, brothers or even a hate message. I'd reply with an x or xoxo or an xxoo at the end.

I just can't get enough of hugs and kisses! LOL.

I'm weird.

"Three won't talk to me. Feeling guilty. :'(((((((" He sent back.

"Honestly, you should be 'cause you yelled at 'em, but it'll pass (: x."I texted back.

"Well, it's been a week!!!?! X_X", Cameron replied.
