Chapter 4: Truths a Bitch
~~~~
Kiara's POV
I HADN'T SPOKEN to Julie yet. How could she hide all this? She said she was planning on telling me when my birthday was only a couple days away, not two weeks.
I remembered storming up to my room like a child, but I didn't care. I had to get away. It was anything a girl could dream of, having royal blood and having a King come to sweep you off her feet and love her, but I didn't want that to happen. At first, I had tried everything to wake myself up but nothing worked, I still believed I was passed out on the floor at the party. This just couldn't be happening.
As I laid down on my bed, staring up at the ceiling letting my thoughts wander, I was still mad about Julie not telling me, but Cecil's dad annoyed me more for some reason. I know, weird, but it was weird how he had found me at Ryan's house when I never gave him his address. Let alone how odd their names were during this era ... Well Cecil's anyway. As I started to put the pieces together of how Julie said people would be searching for me, I couldn't help but connect it with those black eyes. I felt a shiver run down my spine just of the thought of them.
A knock at my door interrupted my thoughts. I knew it was Julie, but I didn't know if I was ready to face her yet.
"Kiara?" He voice sounded weak and anxious, like she wanted, needed, me I say something. Falling in to her I let her come in. I still laid in my bed as she enter uncomfortably.
"I know this is hard for you." She said filling in the silence.
"Yeah" I said quietly, even I almost didn't hear myself.
"I'm guessing you want an explanation?" She asked raising one eyebrow.
"Alright." It seemed I was short of words.
Signing she sat down at the end of my bed. I could tell she was thinking of how to start off, and also her choice of words. As silence overwhelmed us, I stared off in my own world. I was afraid of what I was going to be told. All my life I never thought I was anything special. I had never stood out from the rest with superior intelligence or mouth dropping beauty or even with enough money to afford my grades. I was just a by stander, watching people with all of these shine.
" Where to begin, huh? " Julie broke my thoughts with a nervous laugh as she clapped her hands together.
"From the beginning." I muttered. I didn't really know it pissed off as much as it did, I was royalty.
"Yeah, right." I could tell she was still nervous.
"It all started when the world was still being created, and gods walked the earth as we do today. Many of the gods of Africa were worshipped by the Egyptians, but there were three clans that were very different that came before them. This god, Abnu, had three powerful sons who could shift into any living form, but when they were becoming to powerful and destructive, Abnu decided for them to use their powers against each other, as which one would be declared as the rightful king," as she started to explain, it was like a movie going off in my head I pictured them all, standing strong on a horizon with their worshippers at their feet. Powerful.
"As the brothers took form of their ultimate creatures, they went off into battle forgetting that they once shared everything with each other, all they wanted was the power to be King. As the three fought, the middle brother was the first one to be defeated, Michael. His form was of a leopard and he stayed that way, only to be allowed to shift into man when the sun glowed and took over the sky. An eclipse. One of the two left over was the oldest son, Logan, who was the one Abnu thought for sure was going to win. He had strength, power and confidence of any true king, but what he planned to do with the throne was horrible. When Abnu found this out he did the unthinkable and help his youngest son, Leo. "
As that name, Leo, rolled off her tongue I felt a slight shiver run down my spine. And at that moment I wasn't seeing through my eyes, it's like I was connected to entire different body. I could see and feel a slight breeze run over my skin and with the suns glare shine through the window. But that was it. As quickly as it had come, it was gone. Julie didn't even seem to notice as she was so caught up in her story.
"... The two fought for days, apparently those days were when the most storms hit Africa, where people swore the thunder and lightening had come from the two challenging each other. But in the end, only one brother stood. His body and muscles were tired and he was ready to fall, but his heart kept him up, as it was his heart that beat strong with power that one could only dream. He had a heart of a lion."
"Leo was the named king and swore an oath to protect his people and people of Africa, but darkness soon had over run Africa as the fallen king, Logan wanted revenge. Abnu wasn't pleased with his Logan's actions and banished him. That's where he changed. He took form of a Hyena, building this creature to be able to take any lion down with just it's jaw. As he marched his army he took over the throne killing many. Abnu had no choice, but to hide the one thing that would make any King a true King. As he hide the child, he created guardians to protect this child until the rightful king had found her and made her a queen to stand beside him. "
When she finished, my eyes were stilling seeing black dots, but I heard every word. I could feel her gaze on me when I took all this in. I was the child, the source of power and she was a guardian.
Before I could ask her any questions, my sight drifted off again as I heard faint shouts from Julie drift away.
